Poop (tmi) *yay for poop*

**updated**

No need to see a doc or anything - it finally happened. YAY!

So um.... Is it bad that I haven't pooped since before my lap? I have been taking the stool softeners she told me two for the last two nights and nothing.

I have been feeling nauseous since yesterday too, which I wonder if it is related. I thought the pain meds were causing the nausea but I'm not sure now. I also started bleeding again last night. I had one gush of blood the night of the surgery, but then last night I had a few cramps and since then some brownish/reddish bleeding.

Could AF have showed early? Because, except for the poop thing, the rest of the symptoms are slightly AF-like.

Why don't you give her a call? Maybe it's your nerves... that totally stinks!!!

There's an emergency on-call doc I can page, but I'm not sure this is an "emergency" yet.

I'm going to head out shortly for breakfast/coffee and a walk around the farmers market. I figure it's gentle and maybe it will get things moving.

I always get messed up during surgeries and still remember the horrid gas pains from my LAP, so it's normal to be constipated. Just take some stool softeners or Activia yogurt and that'll help.

The pain meds can make you constipated big time. After my surgery in Nov, I didn't go for 6 DAYS!! Yikes. It was extremely uncomfortable I tried softners and yogurt, they didn't work. I finally had to have my DH get some laxatives they did the trick within a few hours. Hope you get some relief soon!

Try eating lots of fresh fruit, especially the kind that is high in water content like canteloupe, grapes, watermelon, and berries. You could also try a smoothie with about 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 cup frozen berries, and 1 cup milk/almond milk. :goodluck: Hope it clears up soon!

I have a history of IBS. One of the things I know that would set off a rotten stomach for me is drinking coffee while walking around. I tried that this morning and even THAT didn't set off my bowels. Grrr....

Not coffee! Coffee always does the trick for me... I guess just give it time.

Coffee was what I was going to suggest too.
Always set me off. Smile
Oranges are good too.
also...sorry for tmi...try putting books or something either side of the loo and put your feet on them so your knees are higher...that might help things move. Smile
sounds gross..but it works for me! Smile

I'm so sorry Rachel! I got so backed up after one of my D&C's in September that I actually had to go back to the doctor and request an enema! Not fun! Ever since I've always taken stool softeners + laxatives to make sure I don't get back in the same boat.

My next suggestion would have been coffee too. Yikes, hope you get some relief soon.

Still no poop yet and I'm trying to move around more today and get active, hoping it helps. I tried coffee and everything I know that usually bugs my tummy and nothing.

Oh well, back to laundry!

Just a quick update on this one - no poop yet. I talked to the nurse and she said if I normally go a few days or more between poops (which I do) then I might take a little longer to get going. She told me to drink a TON of water today (as much as I can stomach) and take tons of fibre. I have benefibre at home so I will take a bit of that tonight and see if that helps.

I think part of the problem is I'm still tense down in the abdomonal area and even peeing is a little hard still (I just can't seem to relax fully and let it go for fear of pain or the incisions might hurt).

Oh, and the nurse said if I'm passing gas (which I am) it's a good sign that everything is still fine and no worries about impacted bowel or anything.
