Unhappy TTC for over 10 years

My story so far - sorry if it is long
I have been under a gynacologist now for over 15 years as I have endometriosis. In 2001 I tried to conceive with my then husband, was told i had a high FSH level at age 29 so I would need an egg donor and IVF (only tested me once to make this decision) but turned out my husband azoospermia so that ended there.
I am now in another relationship and my partner already has a child and we have been trying to conceive now for 2 years with Clomid on and off. I only have 1 ovary as I had the other removed 2 years ago because of an endometriotic cyst but the endometriosis wasnt very active anywhere else so shouldnt be causing problems with conception. I have had blood test showing my FSH was 10 and then another saying it was off the chart (very high) so he my gyni thinks I am perimenopausal. All my progesterone test are ok. I have tried Clomid and although it has worked at the beginning it seemed to stop the ovary working for a few months.
My cycles are quite regular (28 days) when my ovary is working but every cycle the week before usually from day 21 onwards it is like something goes wrong. My discharge starts to go pink then gets darker each day until i start my period and by that time is dark brown / black then the fresh blood comes. This month, however, it is still black blood and no fresh red at all. This old blood has only been there for the past 2 years since having my other ovary removed. Not sure what is happening and should i just give it up as I have just gone 39 (yesterday) so feel it is just never going to happen for me and my time is up!!!!

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated or anyone similar??????? Just someone that knows anything??

    Thanks for listening.
    x

    Welcome!

First, I would recommend you get a referral to a Reproductive Endrocrinologist (RE). They are way better and more trained in fertility issues than a GYN is. Hopefully they can help with your issues.

I agree. A RE is the way to go. I also wonder if you don't need some tests done to figure out what is going on with the spotting and old blood.

    Thank you for your replies

Hi there my gnyacologist is meant to be a fertility specialists!! He says he doesnt know what is going on it seems that it works when it wants to.
I have had over 8 laparoscopy's over the years so he is reluctant to do anymore. He did look though while i was awake with a camera inside womb etc and couldnt see anything. Although it hurt that much he was only in there 2 mins! He can see a fibroid but nothing that should be causing the bleeding so he really doesnt know. I keep thinking well if you dont then I definitely dont.
this is why i wondered if anyone had same symptoms as really had enough now.

    Default pg/child ment

    lurking:

I'm sorry that you are dealing with endo - I have it too and it SUCKS. I had to do IVF (in 200 after 8 years (and 2 husbands) and that was successful. I was told in March of this year that there was just no way I would be able to conceive without IVF, an IUI woudln't even work with my bad history of endo. In April I was shocked to find myself pg - 11 years of TTC on my own and with all kinds of treatment and here I was pg.

All that to say that I do think its wise to do IVF if you can...but also on your down cycles don't lose hope.

I would agree with the IVF. A good friend of mine has endo, and in July had a procedure to clear things, then IVF just last week - she just found out yesterday that the procedure worked and she is not preggo!

I hope you are able to find out a solution that works!
