? about progesterone cream

My midwife suggested I start taking a progesterone cream to help regulate my cycles and to hopefully get me pregnant sooner. I'm supposed to take it starting about when I ovulate and then keep taking it for 14 days.

I've heard that sudden drops in progesterone trigger miscarriages. So I'm going to be taking pg tests before stopping the cream. How often would you test before you would feel confident stopping the cream?

I guess I'm just paranoid because I've never gotten a BFP except after AF was due. So I'm worried that I will actually be pg but not know it, then stop taking my progesterone cream to start my next cycle... and I'll unknowingly cause a miscarriage. Sad

Anyone with experience/advice?

I don't know much about progesterone creme, but you should be able to get a +HPT if you are pg around 9 or 10 days DPO, especially if you use FRER or another early detection HPT. So I would say that by 14 DPO you should be able to confirm a pregnancy.

Can you keep taking it a little longer just in case? I hope someone else here has more info on the progesterone for you.

I am using progesterone suppositories. My RE said to test 14 days after ovulation and then discontinue them. I tested on 12 DPO and 14 DPO the first cycle, and 12 DPO and 13 DPO the last one and then discontinued them. I just knew I was not pregnant and I didn't feel like stalling AF any longer.

I looked up something online and found that only something like 12% of people did not test positive on day 12 that went on to be positive later. I also use the FRER tests so I figured they are so sensitive they would definitely show by 13 or 14 DPO.

Since you have one child....did you have symptoms early with him/her? That is the other reason I know if I am not pg.....I have a definitely icky feeling that I only know as early pregnancy, so for me, I am confident stopping the progesterone by then.

I've actually been pregnant three times. I had two miscarriages before my DD. One of them was very early and my hcg levels were probably low. But with the other, my hcg levels were on the low side of normal, but they were still normal. And with DD, my hcg was so high that they thought I had twins. Still, I never got a positive test before AF was due - and I tested early (around CD 12) with at least two of them.

I had early pg symptoms with all three. The problem is that progesterone mimics early pregnancy symptoms, so I don't really feel like I can trust early symptoms this time, ykwim?

Thanks for the help, everyone. Smile
