Anyone with no insurance?

HI!
Does anyone else not have insurance?!

If so, do you know the cost just to go get a check from the gyn? like an average?? I was just going to wait until I was preg to go see my doctor.. but since its taking FORRRRRRever.... and now I'm thinking something might be wrong, I'm thinking I should just go see her...

I'm so bad @ spending money on myself if it isn't necessary, so I'm just torn if I should go... Especially since I'm the type that finally goes and everythign is okay, or I get no answers, argh!!!

I know you can get free ones or sliding scale ones if you don't have insurnace at a "clinic" But i do NOT want to go there...

Soo... Im thinking I'll make my appt to see my doctor that I love.... I'm guessing its like 300??? or is that way off??

It can REALLY vary doctor to doctor and by location. Call them, tell them you don't have insurance and why you want to be seen, and see what they say. Usually they'll refer you to billing (if it's a big enough office). If it's been awhile and you don't have records to bring with you about a recent pap they might require you to get that (especially since this is for fertility) which will then lead to lab costs and fees too. And then there's any testing that the doctor might want to do, which they won't know till you get there (you can always decline of course). Blood work and such. Some places do it in office, others send it out.
How long have you been TTC? Have you been charting? Sorry, I don't hang out here as much as I probably should to remember those answers!

I agree with what the PP said. Call, tell them your situation, and ask if there are any options. I work for a lab, and some clients that we deal with have "cash pay" prices. Those are for people without insurance. Some don't offer them, you have to ask for it. Labs also have this too. Most of the time, if you ask, you will get some $$ taken off the bill. Good luck.

Thanks Girls!
Soo I decided to just call, make an appt, and call it good!! it used to take me a couple MONTHS to get in for a regular pap, so IDK how it happened that they got me in next week!! She asked what insurance I have and I said none, so she asked if I was paying cash and I said yes so she said I just have to pay 60$ when I get there then I'll get billed for the rest... I didnt want to know what "the rest" would be so I just said OK! haha.. I don't want any reason to back out!

I've been off BCP for almost a year now but every other cycle I have spotting for a whole week before AF, so that's been stressing me out a little... and so I just want to see what/if anything I can do or if there's something wrong thats easily fixed... guess we shall see!!!

I'm glad you got an appointment for so soon. If "the rest" is alot, call them back and either work out a payment plan or see if they can knock some of it off since you are a cash pay. Also know, when they do a pap, they will have to send it to a lab to screen (not to mention if they do extra testing: HPV, chlamydia, gon., etc), so that will be another bill. Call them as well, alot will discount for a cash pay, especially if the doctors office did too. Good luck with everything!!
