    Default Facebook game?

Have any of you heard of the new facebook breast cancer 'game'? Basically, you pretend to be pregnant and post a status that says something like, "I'm four weeks and I'm craving fudge!" I have friends trying to get me to play it, but it seems really cruel to trick your family and friends into believing you're pregnant. Especially when you hope to be making a real announcement in the near future!

One of my friends linked this blog post, and it pretty much sums up how I feel about the whole thing. But I wondered if anyone else on here felt the same way, or if I'm just overly sensitive?

I didn't know about the game. One of my HS friends posted "I'm 18 weeks and craving chocolate mints", after about 10 people congratulated her, she replied that she wasn't pregnant. I thought it was so stupid for her to post that that I nearly deleted her. I vented about it here on another board and someone there told me that it was cancer awareness thing. I'm sorry, but HOW does that stupid crap raise awareness for cancer?? Most people don't even know what that is about and just feel duped when the are happy for someone making an announcement and they aren't pregnant!

Me feeling on it is that if you want raise awareness for cancer on FB, post a status that says you support cancer awareness, not that stupid pointless crap!! If you really support cancer awareness make a financial donation to cancer research or donate your time to volunteer for an organization. You aren't going to cure cancer by posting status updates on facebook!

Okay. Getting off my soapbox now.

I have friends who have posted it too. I find it a bit tacky, and very insensitive to those who are TTC or who really are pregnant and going to announce it on fb soon. Luckily I don't plan on announcing until 12 ish or so weeks so hopefully all that hoopla blows over. I want people to take me seriously when I announce it!

Ugh. I had someone post it as well, and I assumed she was pg. What a lousy idea.

I agree, it is very stupid and I have absolutely no idea what it has to do with cancer awareness.
