    Default Fertility Diet?

Anyone on a fertility diet? I was reading about the types of foods to eat/not eat and it's all pretty similar to just a healthy, weight loss diet..

And... i REALLY want to lose weight before I get pregnant! I just CANT seem to motiviate myself to stick with it, I'll lose 10, gain 10, lose 10, gain 10... ugh! and now Im at the "gain 10" part... so I know I CANNN do it, i just need some motivation!!!

Anyone want to pass time with trying to lose some weight with me? I figure if we can be supportive of TTC we might be some good motivaters to .. TTL ? (trying to lose? haha im nerdy)

Also, when i DO "diet" I tend to remember my vitamins, and drink my water, so I think it might even boost my "chances".

I'd really love to lose at least 10 lbs, 15 would be ieal but if I could go to my first appt down 10 i'd be really happpppyyy.. (I started out a lot heavier then now with my first, and gained a lottt of weight.. so it was a long road to lose all of that after I had him..) Ideally, I'd love to deliver at the weight I got PG with last time, if possible... and then only have like 20 lbs to lose or less!!

Plus, I feel so, BLEH, when I keep getting BFNS, and to make it worse... since gaining weight I feel BLEH and self conscious about myself, so maybe it would help perk me up.

    Anyone want to join?

I'm at my ideal weight right now, but for me it was slowly changing my eating habits to be healthier (never dieting) and walking like crazy! (I hate running and gyms, so I walk a lot of miles when it's not 107ยบ outside. lol) Best of luck to you!

I'm nowhere near my ideal weight. I haven't heard of the fertility diet, but would side with what Jackie said. I think changing general eating habits into healthier habits and monitoring portions size along with increased physical activity (the last 2 is where I fall short) is better that 'dieting'.

Oh Cait, you're speaking my language! I used to work as a personal trainer and consider myself a total health nut. I'm actually at my ideal weight, but LOVE helping people out. And I stay at my ideal weight because I eat what I should, and work out 5-6 days a week. If you want me to help you with a plan--be it health or workouts, whatever, just send me an email. I'll be as annoyingly motivative as you'll let me! (Seriously, give me your phone number and I'll text you when i am getting my *** to the gym at 5 am).

I think it's great trying to eat healthier and getting in shape to get pg. I will just caution you that a very strict diet (like a no-fat diet, or a strict low calorie diet, for example) is very bad for conception. Any time your body feel like you're in fast mode, you're less likely to conceive. Because, of course, your body doesn't know you're doing it for good health. It only knows that it would be difficult to support a baby on that diet!

I also have seen some research that low fat dairy is bad for fertility. When I was TTC DD, I made it a point to get full-fat yogurt, pour whole milk into my cereal, and eat small (SMALL) portions of real ice cream instead of eating low fat yogurt and diet ice cream. Of course, you could just avoid dairy altogether instead of switching to the full fat versions.

That's all true, and personally, I don't recommend ANYONE ever go on a "diet." Change how you eat. Period. So, my meals aren't strict. I have about 19% body fat (totally fine for someone my size) and average between 1200 and 1600 calories per day. It's really more about *what* you're eating. Stay away from refined sugars and excessive carbs. Corn syrup is the devil, and it's in *everything*. In the most simple terms: Don't eat more than your body weight in grams of carbohydrates per day (ex: Weigh 125, max 125g carbs per day) try to stay under 35g of fat, and eat clean: lean meats, whole grains, veggies and fruits. I'm not BIG on dairy (I prefer Almond Milk myself) but do love yogurt. As far as the whole "full fat" thing....I don't know much about that. My guess, if you're not gorging yourself on dairy products, you're probably fine either way.

Lastly--some days this type of eating seems like no fun. I allow myself one "cheat day" a week (mine is usually Saturday). On Saturday, I eat what I want. No restrictions. This also helps b/c if on Wednesday I am DYING for ice cream I don't have to cave and sabotage my healthy eating. I just tell myself "fine, you can have that in 3 days." (Mostly in 3 days the craving has passed, but I do eat junk on Saturdays, make no mistake).

Eating well is more important than exercise. Sometimes I am in training, sometimes not. My weight hasn't fluctuated in 5 years.

Sorry, also not looking to loose any weight.

Erin- thanks for that carbs guideline, I had never heard that before, but that makes sense.

I am also not one for 'dieting' just eating right and not too much splurging. I don't give myself a free day becuase then I just want to eat unhealthy all the time. I just let myself indulge when I want and if its too much then I makeup for it buy working out extra hard.

ALthou I may be needing some tips for once I am preggo becuase I currently stay active by playing soccer three times a week and I'm not quite sure that would be good with a baby belly... lol could you imagine !!

Cait, I need to lose a lot more then 10lbs but I'll try to help. DH and I just decided to start eating healthier so we'll see how that goes. I hate to cook but love veggies any kind really but he's not a fan. So what did you eat today? I start tomorrow.

Erin, I would love some help but don't know if you'd be willing. I'm a type 1 diabetic with a insulin pump. I've never heard of the carb ratio before and that will so help since my insulin is calculated by carbs. If you could help let me know. I would want help in the food part mainly.

    Hiya girls!

I use www.myfitnesspal.com for the last 2-3 years to record all of my foods. I generally eat 1100-1600 ish cals a day. Lately I've been focusing on WEEKLY average cals instead of daily, because one "bad day" was throwing me off, but I started looking at the weekly and trying to get that to about 1300.

I'm in a good mood today because my pants I bought almost two months ago when I was -10lbs, fit.. I had been scared to try them on.. haha..

My WORST habit is late night eating, especially now that I work til 8-9pm.. because we dont get "lunch" breaks at work, so I'll eat like one thing before work, then maybe a granola bar when i'm at work, then im STARVING and eat... whatever i want.. when I get home right before bed..

If i can not eat late at night, I'm fine.. I've lost like.. 60lbs after DS.. and its just this stupid 10 lbs that i'm hanging onto for dear life apparently!!!

I feel like this is my bodys comfortable weight- as in, if I dont work out 3+x a week, and REALLY restrict my calories, I always come right back to here.. GR!!
