So I'm a mom of 3, so this stuff isn't new, but its been a while. We are going to TTC starting in Nov/Dec time frame for our final babe. My other 3 are 7 (3/3/07), 4 (7/7/09) and 3 (5/26/2011). We, or I should say, I've waited for DH to come around to #4, but also to heal more from my first 3 c-sec. Now that both are accomplished we're ready. Getting preg for me involves metformin. Without it nothing happens. So now I'm back on metformin and this time its not agreeing with me. My doc first gave me metformin extended release and I ended up with a lot of side effects, nausea, stomach cramps, diareha, fatigue and dizziness. When I looked it up I was lactic acidosis. Basically I could not continue the meds. So I went back and she gave me normal metformin. So far there has been a little nausea and diareha. I can live with it for now but I will ask my doc about it. I'm hoping its just my body adjusting to the meds. If not I could be stopped before we get to try, which would make me really sad. There's not much else my doc could do for me as I take metformin for insulin resistance and there's not another drug that I could find that can be exchanged so then I'd get transferred to OB.
So I'm hoping I can come on here and vent my frustrations and joys since I'm not telling people on fb about this as some don't like the idea of me having #4. They think it would overwhelm my family. I say they should just be happy for us and mind their own business
Welcome!!! I'm so glad you decided to share your journey with us. I'm sorry to hear that you are having so many unpleasant side effects from the meds. I hope that is short lived. Maybe you'll get pregnant quickly and not have to deal with that for very long. KUP on your progress. And I hope you catch that egg!
The biggest things I can think of are start taking a full prenatal vitamin (though the folic acid is the important part) and start exercising. After you get off of the birth control, you might want to track your ovulation, there are several ways that can be done. Speak to your OB or midwife to see if they have any particulars about your diet or other things.
Hi there, taking folic acid, vitmain E and multivitamins are helpful for a woman to conceive. Let me also share here with you a site I've been using to track my ovulation period and it could also help you have the gender you want for your future baby, good luck.
