Hey gals. So we're on our 2nd cycle of TTC #3. (the first for my new husband and i)
So we decided it wouldn't hurt to take some supplements to help us along. We went to the Cornucopia store nearby and bought some Maca Root for myself and DH. I've also been taking prenatal vitamins.
My questions come in when I started researching other ways to help us along. Like Evening Primrose Oil and Progesterone Creams.
Have any of you used these to help? Have they helped any of you in past BFP's?
According to what I've read I'm thinking I'm going to consistently take the Prenatal Vitamins. Take the Maca Root until I get a BFP or miss my period (whichever comes first). Take the evening primrose oil capsules until Ovulation and start rubbing Progesterone cream on my abdomen 14 days before my next AF should come.
I'm nervous about the Progesterone cream and I wonder if it's a good idea at all.
Any advice is welcome.
The only thing I tried was robutussin because when I was trying for #1 it was said the Guaifenesin in it helped with mucous production. I took 2 doses at CD 10-14 and I O'd at CD16.
We had been trying for 7 months by that point and that cycle was the first time I'd had EWCM. That was the cycle I got pregnant but I don't know if it made the difference. The other 2 times I got pregnant I had EWCM on my own.
I really have no advice on the natural products but they all help with different aspects of fertility. Good luck!

I've been taking coenzyme q10 (co Q10) on the advice of a friend who's fertility doctor told her to take it. Apparently it's supposed to improve egg and sperm quality. Hopefully I won't get pregnant with twins...
The upside of taking it (besides fertility) is that it's an antioxidant (who doesn't want to look younger?!) and helps with energy levels. I've felt great since being on it and will probably continue with it after this journey.
I can't comment much on what you've been looking for, but evening primrose was on my radar also.
I had an interview with a local midwife yesterday. Just trying to be prepared and I wanted more info on VBACs and Fertility enhancement.
She suggested that I continue to take the Maca and also take Vitex. She said save the evening primrose oil for the end of the pregnancy - if/when I get pregnant.
She also said to wait on the progesterone cream until after I get a BFP. She wants to test my progesterone level and see if I actually need the progesterone cream. I've had 2 MCs so we're gonna look into it.
I'll have to call her up and ask her about this Q10. Doing a little research on it now.
Thank you so much ladies.
Oh...I forgot. She also told me to get a different Prenatal Vitamin. She said I could finish off the ones I have now because I'm not pregnant yet. But she wants me to get a prenatal that is food based after that.
I just thought I'd share because other ladies may have the same questions.
She also told me not to have sex everyday. Geez last cycle DH and I had sex everyday from CD6 or 7...I think. We were so tired of sex by the time ovulation came around and we didn't have sex the day after my positive OPK.
The midwife thinks it was just too soon after being sick and a surgery. She also thinks having sex everyday doesn't give DH adequate time to "reload" lol.
IDK. I just wanted to share. She was so nice and helpful. She talked to me for nearly 2 hours. (It was my first experience with a Midwife). OBs always seem to be rushing me...no matter the reason I'm there.
Plus I'm really really hoping to have a VBAC this time. I already sent in the request for my surgical records lol.
Anyway.. blah blah blah I could go on all day but lunch is just about over and I've got to get back to DDs homeschooling. Thanks for letting me vent when I got the BFN and thinks for letting me blab now that I'm "over" it and ready to try again.
That's great and helpful advice. Thanks for sending
I was told about primrose oil near the end of pregnancy and not to use the cream.
My doctor likes all natural but at the same time doesn't like me/clients to take a whole bunch of things at once. She says my body doesn't need all this extra
No complaints there. I hate taking pills.
I'm one for trying but trying to take it easy just so I don't over load on so many extras. There are so many things and vitamins, oils etc etc to help (apparently) that even a person on all may not get that BFP
Look under the ttc tips sticky -- i posted a list of supplements and what they are supposed to help with.
