Hi

Hi everyone. My name is Melissa, and I have been a member of PO since my first pregnancy back in 2002. However, I haven't been on here in YEARS and now I'm back because I just got remarried a few months ago, and we are TTC asap!

I have three beautiful children: Gabriella and Isabella (twins, born April 2003), and Deborah (born August 2004). Their dad and I divorced three years ago, and now I am happily married to my best friend in the world, Jason. We were married in September, and though he loves my girls like they're his own, he has no bio children of his own. So since neither of us is getting any younger, we decided that if we were going to have a child or two together, we'd better get on that right away.

I had a Mirena IUD in for 7 years, and never had a period the entire time. I just had it removed in October. My first cycle lasted 39 days, and now I am on day 19 of my second cycle. We are hoping that my cycle returns to its normal 28-30 day self very soon... we are currently basing our TTC efforts on LMP dates, so we hope that I O'd on day 14 or so this time around. If so, we had plenty of action from day 12-16, so here's to hoping!

Anyway, I'm not hoping for much this month, but it's going to kill me to wait until the end of next week to test, anyway. My assumption is that I will be around here for a while, so I wanted to introduce myself and hope to get to know you all!!

Thanks for reading my book! Smile

Hi Melissa,
So glad to see you again. Has it really been this many years since the twins were born?!! Love your avatar!

Wishing you a quick journey through ttc land.
Again, welcome "home."

Hi Jules!! It HAS been that long - can you believe it?? The girls are 8 and a half already! It's so weird to be back - it's so different than the old boards, but yet, strangely the same... Wink

Welcome!

3 babies in less than a year and a half - you must have had your hands full!!! I can't imagine Smile mine are full enough with my one LOL but she's also ADHD so she might equal 2 sometimes.

Did you have much difficulty when you were TTC before? Hopefully you'll get a BFP soon Smile

Crystal, thanks, I hope so too! I never had an issue before because both of my pregnancies were unplanned... but that was quite a long time ago, and before I had an IUD for 7 years, so I'm pretty nervous that it's not going to be as easy this time around.

There is a lot of pressure for me to get pregnant in the next 6 months or so because my husband really, really wants a child. He was married before and he and his ex-wife were never able to conceive, and it's ultimately what was the straw that broke the camel's back in their marriage. And because he wants it soooo bad, I really want to get pregnant quickly so he doesn't start to wonder and stress out about whether it will happen or not.

On the upside, since he and his ex had fertility issues, he has been tested in the past, so we know that his little swimmers are healthy and numerous, so there should be no issues from his side... LOL

I'm on my second marriage also, my ex didn't WANT kids so after our daughter was born (when she was 4 months old) he had a vasectomy! My new hubby does want a baby but he said my daughter and I complete him so anything more is gravy Biggrin I'm the one stressing over getting PG because I have wanted a second for so long!

After a VERY messed up cycle (we're talking a couple of months) I'm hoping we're finally back on track now and fingers crossed hope to O again soon. Should have a few days ago so my cycle is already a bit longer than normal but I'm not out just yet. I'd love a BFP for Christmas!

Are you using OPK's or anything? Sounds like you guys should have an easy enough time once you are back on your own normal cycle. Good luck!

Hi! Glad to see a "new" (yet old) TTC'er. Hopefully, your cycle will get back to normal and you won't have to wait too long for another LO to join your beautiful family.

I'm glad you're getting your chance!! I knwo that one would never have been enough for me... but then again, I never had just one, so I guess I don't know! LOL

No, right now I am basing everything off of my old cycle. I was always 28 days like clockwork, so I am just date charting. I am assuming that I O'd on Day 14, so I'm basing everything off of that. Though last month my cycle was 40 days, but that was my first month without the IUD. I am thinking of charting BBT starting next month if it doesn't miraculously happen this month, but I've never charted before, so I'm not even sure where to start... what are you using?

Do they teach you how to do it?? DO I need a special BBT thermometer? These are the kinds of questions I have - I'm pretty ignorant as far as charting goes...

I've tried chartingBBT before but was unsuccessful, I'm a snooze-button-a-holic and with a puppy I was often getting up in the night too.
I was using OPK's and charting CM earlier this year, then this summer I stopped for a bit cause Nick said I was stressing myself out too much. Then I ended up having that crazy cycle which is only now getting somewhat back to normal and I've been using OPK's again and back to charting CM, I've been using Ovulation predictors for nearly 2 weeks now and no LH surge yet. I have a great app for my phone that also has a BBT chart if I were to use that, it tracks AF, predicts fertile period, and you can input everything from CM to mood. I went back and input all my AF for the last year for the best possible average.

No clue. I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility about 20 years and started using a pen and paper to chart my cycle. It's pretty straight forward. You need a BBT (about $10 at Target, WalMart, Walgreens, etc.). Look in the family planning section or near the regular thermometers. I like ones that store the last temp. Pick a time that you are usually getting up (6am for me) and just take your temp. the same time every day before you get out of bed. FF takes the guesswork out by throwing a "crosshair" on your chart to indicate ovulation the day before your temp shift. Progesterone post-o will cause your body temp to jump up. I think there's a charting board on pg.org or you can go to the Taking Care of Your Fertility website if FF doesn't have the info. you need. I think TCOYF is the site I used with online charting before FF. I could probably still log in there to see, but just haven't bothered to look for charts older than the past couple of years. I'm a fan of charting because it has helped me spot issues and I always have a good idea of when I'm ovulating and when af should arrive. I only started adding opks in a couple of years ago when I was going through fertility treatment.

Hey Melissa. It's nice to meet you! We have a few things in common. I just had my Mirena removed early November, and am also ttc with a new man. Smile Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner, I've just been lurking the last week or so.
