Hi I'm new here..

I'm new to this whole bulletin board thing, and relitively new to this site.
I have an 8 y/o girl from a previous marriage. My new Hubby and I have been TTC for 11 months now, and i'm currently on day 38 of a normal 31 day cycle. 4 hpt's and still not a positive result. I've been experiencing some early pregnancy symptoms (some mild cramping, constipation, nausea and heartburn) but nothing like the last time. I did have the tiniest bit of faint spotting the day after AF was due but nothing at all since then.
I've been diligent and a tad obsessive with charting up until last month, my hubby asked me to take a break cause it was starting to stress me out. So now I'm not sure if I just ovulated late or if there is something else going on. I saw my Doc but she just said she finds the HPT's are generally accurate and is sending me for a urine test at the hospital 'just to be sure' that I'm not pregnant.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Hi and welcome! I'm sorry you have such a mystery....it's always the month you decide not to chart for some reason that something weird happens with your cycle!!! I've had it happen twice myself! But I understand wanting to take a break from it, too It does tend to make one a little crazy.

I haven't had any similar experiences I'm afraid. I do know that stress and illness can both mess with your cycle, so if you've had anything crazy going on, that could be one explanation for a late O and AF. I'm just wondering why your Dr. didn't just send you for a blood test instead of the urine test, since you haven't gotten a +HPT. If your test comes up negative and you still don't get AF, I'd ask about a blood test instead. :goodluck:

We did go on vacation and I'm reading that travel can possibly cause late O. My guess is the doc didn't order a blood test because they rarely do those here, the Canadian medical system my be free but you often get what you pay for :s They didn't do one at all when I was preggers the first time.

Welcome! I commented on your thread in the Do You See A Line (DYSAL) board yesterday (or maybe the day before?).

I'm starting to feel crampy Sad am pretty sure AF is going to be coming soon, sigh. At least then I can move on to the next cycle.
This is so frustrating, especially when so many around me are having oops'. I even stopped talking to a friend because she got preggers (very much accidentally) and despite her knowing how difficult it's been for us - all she did was complain about being pregnant! I told her I'd switch places with her in a heartbeat and she responded "no you wouldn't it's horrible". I haven't contacted her since.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I don't have any advice about the late AF.....mine seem to run early all the time! I have found HPT's (FRER's, anyway) to be very accurate for me, and if I get a negative, it's negative!

It sounds like it's been a while trying for you....please join us here as there are a few of us who've been here a while and we welcome new faces!

Or rather, I hope this cycle turns out to be a pleasant surprise and you don't end up joining us after all!

Welcome! I'm glad you've decided to join us. I actually found this site when I was a circumstance very similar to yours. Unfortunately for me, it was just an unusually long cycle.

I hope that your TTC journey ends with a bfp soon, and I'm glad that you've decided to share it with us here.

Thanks everyone Smile
So despite cramps on the other day still no AF  waiting on the test to come back from the doctor's now. The worst part is that I can't move on to the next cycle until this one ends!
My DD was a bit of an oops and I was about 11 wks along before I found out with her, at that point in time I was very irregular and it was no big deal to go months with out AF. The last 5 or 6 years I've been like clockwork 30 or 31 days. This is my first time TTC and it's taken a lot longer than either of us expected. I feel like my clock is ticking and my DH is very supportive and loving but he's not as concerned as I am. He says we're still young (He's 27 and I'm 31) our time will come. I think that because I'm 4 years older I feel it more, since my time will run out sooner than his.
How about everyone one else? How long have most of you been TTC?

Welcome! I'm sorry you're going through a rough cycle. I hope it's just one of those fluke things and that it results in a BFP for you! It helps so much to post here and makes me feel so much better especially when I get stressed out and things get wonky with my cycle.

I've been TTC for about 5 months, but have mild PCOS so I'm on Clomid which is great fun *sarcasm*. Hopefully it works out soon though. In the meantime, I'll be here cheering everyone on and obsessing over my symptoms or lack there of every month.

Good luck!

I've now lost track of how many days late I am - 12? Getting some occasional mild cramping which is really more discomfort, bloating (pants are now tight) and nausea for the last 3 days, add that to the extremely light spotting I had earlier and the fact that I'm now nearly 2 weeks late and if not for all the negative tests I'd be positive that I was pregnant. Sad
I feel like I'm losing my mind!

I'm an "older" mama...38 now...more about my journey in an Intro thread.

TTC can be very stressful and for those who experience an "oops" unexpectedly it can be difficult to understand. I was in your place not too long ago when we were TTC #1. This is a very supportive place to vent frustrations. I hope you find an answer to your long cycle soon! Have you talked to your dr. about how long you've been TTC? You've almost hit the "1 year mark" and could probably start some testing soon.

I did have a a conversation with my doc a few weeks ago and she did run some initial blood tests on me (which all came back normal) but doesn't seem concerned and just said it can take a while for some people  When I saw her last week about this long cycle she simply sent me for a urine test at the clinic and asked me if I had any symptoms, and what it was like when I was pregnant the first time with my DD (but that wasn't very helpful since I was about 10 wks along when I finally found out with her).

13 days and yet another BFN (couldn't help it, took another HPT), still waiting on the results form the docs office but not expecting anything new there either. Part of my thinks I should go back on BC for a cycle or 2 but I'm sure that would just screw me up more Sad

I would want some answers if I were in your shoes! Is it possible that the spotting you had was a very light af? If so, I'd want to know why af was so scant. If your dr. is dismissive, it might be a good time to find someone who will listen. Do you have health insurance? Is a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) an option? By the time you get appointments arranged you will be at the one year mark anyways...

Definately not possible that spotting was AF it amounted to about a half dozen very light drops on some TP- one time, not even anything on my panties. Luckily I'm in Canada so most things are covered by our provincial health plan. Dr's however are limited and the wait to see a specialist is extremely long, I can get a referal but it could easily take upto a year to get into one. We can ask for a referal to a fertility clinic which would not be covered and is not in our city either, we'd have to travel at least and hour and a half away but that wait is long as well up to 6 months. Sad
