Hi ladies

Hi ladies I'm back. I've been off the boards for awhile. For you who don't know me I'm Carin, DH is Mike we've been married for 5 yrs. I went off BCPs in 4/2009 we were JLIH untill 04/2010 and we got pregnant in 08/2010 and had a miscarriage in Nov. We didn't let it get to us to much. We started trying again in Jan but we lost our insurance so I couldn't go to the doctors. We now have our insurance back and I go on Tuesday. I hope we can start to get some answers. I have type 1 diabetes so I don't know if that is adding problems. My sugars are good I still went to my endo for that but that was $115 every 3 months plus the cost of test strips. I got my insulin for free Thank god cause that would of been $500 a month.

I really would like some help with what to ask my doctor when I see him. Can anyone give me any advise?

Carin,
Welcome back! Glad to hear you got your insurance back. As far as diabetes, I am unsure if it is causing conception problems. I work in Labor and Delivery, and I know it is a concern once you are pregnant. A controllable concern. Smile I would just have them take time to talk about you and be able to answer all your questions. Maybe write down all your dates that you listed above. Anything important. And if you have a chart that is typical, you can let them know exactly how long your cycle is, luteal phase, ect. Good luck!! Let us know how the appointment goes!

Thank you Kate. My A1c is under 7 so I don't think that is the problem but I always go to that first. I did write everything down so I don't forget anything. I did print out my charts too. I'm so nervous to go. My DH has to work so I'm going by myself today. I still have 3 hrs to wait...I hate waiting. Thank you for replying and I will post when I get back.

Well I got answers...I have PCOS and possibly endometriosis. He took a ton of blood today and I go for an u/s on Monday. He also ordered a sa on DH. I also have to do a HSG next cycle. This is all new to me. I am happy that he isn't waiting and we are full swing ahead. He would like to see my A1c at 6.0 Sad I've never had that low of one but I'll be asking what I can do at my endo appt Friday. I have to check with him to see if I can take Metformin for PCOS but with being on insulin I don't know we'll see.

Thanks for checking in Smile

Carin,
I'm happy for you that you got some answers. Sounds like you have a pro-active doc. I also have probable endo and I need to get a lap done (which I'm procrastinating about)! If you can get your A1C to 5 or6 it would be excellent and better for baby. Were you surprised to find you have pcos and endo?

Welcome back! A SA for DH and an HSG for you along with bloodwork sounds like a good starting point. Good thing you have insurance! Prior warning...if you start looking for info. about the HSG you might read stories about how painful it is. It usually isn't THAT painful and the pain doesn't last very long. I was advised to take ibuprofen ahead of time and would recommend that.

Kate- No I wasn't surprised but I thought I would have one not possibly both. My doctor is great. He asked how aggressive I wanted to be so that's why we are moving fast cause I want to. I might have to have the lap too but not yet.

Beth-Thanks for the warning on the HSG. I wasn't going to do anything without insurance so I was sooooo happy to get it back. I'm not that good with pain so I will ask if I can take something before.
