How long does an OPK stay +?

Monday - OPK was a definite negative
Tuesday - OPK test line was dark but not quite as dark as control line
Wednesday - OPK test line was lighter than yesterday.

Was yesterday my positive? Does a positive go away that quickly?

I always tested atleast twice a day when the line started to get darker - I found I got my true +ve more often later in the day

Here is a good explanation:

The Surge

The reason you are testing to find out when you ovulate is because you want to become pregnant. So, you are simply looking for the surge of hormones that indicates ovulation will occur within 72 hours. If you take the ovulation test several days in a row and it remains positive each of these days this should really be of no concern. The reason why is that you are only looking for the surge of hormones which would result in the first positive test. After that it does not matter how many positive tests you have because hormones may stay high, may drop, or level out. Keep in mind that the most important thing is the first positive test. Once you have this don’t worry if you have a positive ovulation test several days in a row. Just keep in mind the first positive test is what is important and ovulation will occur within a few hours to a few days.

I had a near positive at 5pm Tuesday. At 5pm Wednesday the test line was much lighter. And today it's much lighter again (tested at 12:30pm).

I've been reading up, and it seems possible to o but not get a positive reading. I've said it before, but a blinking red light would be so much more helpful than temps and sticks. Just saying.

Oh and I should also say that I have tested since day 6 to be sure I didn't miss anything. Tuesday was day 13 and every day before then was clearly negative.

Mine was positive one day and negative the next.

Like Christa said. It gets darker and darker but it got so dark it was pretty much just like the control line and then the next day it was lighter. I also used a digital one to help me. So while the lines were getting darker the digital one kept saying no. Then i saw the surge (two dark lines pretty much the same) and the digital said yes.

We DTD on -3, -2 and O day. I hope that helps. Girl just keep DTD hehe

I hope you caught your eggy

Thanks!

My temp spiked today, thinking that maybe the near dark was my positive. Timing looks not too bad but wishing we had one extra try in there (hindsight is 20/20). Fingers crossed!

My positive only lasts a few hours, then starts getting lighter again. So yes, it's possible to have a really short window to get a true positive on an OPK! Smile
