HSG tomorrow

I'm having an HSG tomorrow. For those of you who have had one can you answer some ? for me?

Does it hurt? What do they do?
Can I still try this month or do I have to wait till next month?

I wasn't able to ask those ? to the nurse who scheduled me cuz my MIL was here listening to my phone conversation lol

I had one. I think they gave me Tylenol or ibuprofen before I went so you might want to take something. I was really nervous bc I had heard bad stories but mine wasn't that bad. It was basically like having bad AF cramps. But as soon as they are done the discomfort goes away. They had me lay on the flat X-ray table. They inserted a speculum just like with a pap smear. Then I think they put a tiny tube in (didn't feel it) and through that they inserted some dye. I thought it was pretty cool bc they do an X-ray the whole time and you see the dye filling up your uterus and tubes. I thought it was cool to see what that looked like. We were able to ttc that month. I've also heard that a good amount of women conceive within a few months of an hsg. I guess it can clear out some blockages and help things along.

GL!! I hope it goes great for you!!

When I had mine, I had pretty intense cramping for a VERY brief time as the dye moved through my tubes (they were open). I was told to take ibuprofen prior to my appt. I had some residual cramping after for a couple of days (tapered from AF-like cramping to very mild). We were told to TTC that cycle because your chances are often increased the cycle of the hsg and the next cycle. Good luck! Smile
