Intro and BF/TTC question

Hi, I'm Marsha. I posted on here a little when I was pregnant with DD in 2010. My DD is almost 14 months old and DH and I have been discussing TTC #2. I'm still BFing, it's going very well and we enjoy it tremendously. The problem is I have yet to have an AF of any kind. She has not shown her face at all!!

Any advice on where to start? I really don't want to wean but am not opposed to eliminating a feeding and replacing with a snack or something. Anyone with some experience I would greatly apprecaite some.

Hi Michelle - thanks for the welcome.

There's no way of knowing when AF will come while still BFing. Some ladies get AF right away, where others won't see her until a month or more after completely weaning. It's rather frustrating because some are wanting to TTC right away and can't (there's a couple of others in this boat on this board) and I know on DS's BB there were a couple who got AF back within a few months who weren't so fond of this. ;) I can't really offer advice since who knows what it will take for you to have AF return. Do what you're willing to do. I know some are willing to wean where others want to keep BFing.

Welcome!! I hope that you can find a way to conceive while still feeding your little girl! I am super jealous, I wish I was able to BF as long as you have :)

Still bf'ing a toddler here. My first pp-af was around 13 months. I ovulated late and had a short lp for the first 3 cycles, but now everything seems to be working (other than the not being pregnant part). I still bf on demand when we're together, but I work full-time and stop pumping at work a long time ago. He nurses throughout the day on weekends, but mainly evenings and throughout the night (we co-sleep). I was kind of surprised when af returned because he nurses quite frequently through the night still. Cutting out the night feedings seems to be key for many women. I'm still not willing to wean my DS and don't have plans to force the issue until he's at least 2. For me, I'm not willing to wean the baby I have to try to have a baby that may never come (we had serious fertility issues). If you decide that it's time for you to try weaning or partial weaning, you could try to cut out night feedings (have your DH comfort your LO instead of you going to her) or reduce the number of feedings in the day. Thanks Beth! DD is already sleeping through the night without nursing and has been for quite some time. I'm really surprised I haven't seen AF. I think we may just cut out one feeding during the day and see what happens. I'm not ready to start weaning until 18 months, unless she decides she's ready earlier. I guess we'll just see what happens. :)
