DH and I have only been actively TTC for 1 month, but I have been off of birth control pills for more than a year and still do not have a period. My doctor made a referral to the reproductive endocrinologist (fertility specialist) because my hormone levels are also a little bit off.
I am only 28, but have been thinking about TTC and wanting to start for almost 2 years. Now that I am emotionally and financially ready to start, I am frustrated that I can't even start charting without AF.
So, here is the part where I need advice...should I wait it out for a few more months to see if AF shows up on her own or start to pursue fertility treatments?
What do you ladies think?
It's been a year--go see the RE. They can get you on the right track, and if needed, give you a prescription that will help AF get started. At this point, it's worth it to get some help.
You might wanna check out this blog I read (link below). The author was 26 when she started TTC and had the same issue. She never got AF once she came off the pill. If you go back to the achieves and read from the start, her TTC journey and involvement with an RE sounds similar to yours. (She has a son now). (Also, she has the video posted of when she got her BFP and it's the sweetest thing ever.)

Definitely don't wait for AF to show. Talk to your doctor, if you have, I can't believe they would leave you period-less for a year!
Get a referral to an RE if your OB won't do anything for you.
They can induce a period with a shot or pills. Also, if your hormones are off, you should be getting tested to find out why and what. If TTC is important to you, I say take an active role now and advocate for yourself strongly.
You need AF before you can even look into Fertility treatments so that's #1, find out why no period and get it started. Good luck!
I agree with everybody else -- see the RE! The best thing you can do for your body is to make sure it's "ready" for trying and by seeing the RE, he/she can get you on the right track to that.
Good Luck with the RE and let us know what he/she says.

Thanks Ladies,
I have the appointment set for next week- I was just getting cold feet about it.
I went to the doctor a few weeks ago and was diagnosed with PCOS...basically I'm not ovulation. It wasn't any big shock because I haven't had my period in over a year. So, after I get some extra testing done, I will be starting on fertility treatments. Probably nothing crazy, just something to get my ovulation started up again to give nature a chance to do its thing.
Wish me luck. We will probably be able to start our first cycle of treatment later this month.
Good luck with everything! I believe you made the right decision by going to the Dr. I hope you get your BFP very soon.
