    Default low estrogen

    Hi:

I've read that low estrogen may be the reason why my CBE monitor goes from low to peak skipping the high reading in between. Does anyone have more info or know if this is true?

Wow, I've never heard that before. If that's true then it might explain and clear up confusion for a lot of TTCers who use CBE.

CBE = Clear Blue Easy. I use their fertility monitor to detect ovulation.

oh. I've been using the dollar store stuff. Do you know if the cheaper brands give bad results?

The dollar store ones only detect LH surge so estrogen would have no impact on how well they work for you. There isn't any reason that they would give "bad results" but they may not be a sensitive as the Clear blue easy monitor which tracks both LH and Estrogen.

Christa - With how the CBE monitor works it seems like it would be very possible for a low estrogen level to throw it off. Have you considered using normal OPKs that just detect LH? Or maybe using both one month to see if the OPKs can give you a better idea of your fertile days instead of just your peak?

I did just start using both this past cycle. I will keep using them both from now on. I do think the monitor is accurately predicting my "surge" but I don't have much of a warning to ensure we bed immediatlely prior. So, I will keep checking with the cheapies I ordered from the internet. This past cycle, I had a negative on both the monitor and the cheapies in the morning. Then later that day, I got a definately positive on the cheapies and the next morning the monitor confirmed/agreed with a Peak!

Are you using FMU for the OPK? If i remember right LH is released in the morning so it may not show up in FMU and they recommend testing with OPKs later in the day.

The monitor advices testing with FMU. So, I test in the am, afternoon and early evening with the OPK test strips.
