Well, had the initial appointment. I really liked him, and he made me feel good about making the appointment, and not like an idiot. He said initially, nothing jumps out at him that makes him concerned. I'm going to have a test run on egg quality starting with the next cycle and a blood test for progesterone, and an HSG just to make sure everything is in working order. He said 6 months is a good time to get tested, but not a good time to panic (generally speaking, I agree!) so I should know more after the start of next cycle. He also is going to put me on Synthroid for thyroid issues, which, in his opinion probably aren't preventing pregnancy, but would be a threat for miscarriage. I feel better about having gone.
Has anyone else done the egg quality test? I have to take Clomid for 5 days and he said it will increase our chance of a twins pregnancy if I were to get pregnant that cycle. I could handle that, of course, but just wonder if it's a real concern?
Glad to hear it went well. The testing was not bad for me, but it seems like everyone is different. It's funny, when I was trying to conceive #2, I went through the exact same things....started thyroid replacement, had HSG, clomid challenge test. I didn't have the opportunity to TTC during the clomid challenge month though because my TSH was too high until a month later. I think the doctor told me my chance of multiples went up to 10% with the Clomid (from 2-3 naturally, I think.) You might feel better if they checked you with an ultrasound that month to see how many follicles you have in there....are they planning on that?
Best of luck to you!
I'm glad you had a good RE and you have an action plan! It sounds awesome. My BFF had an egg quality test done and was told she was infertile (she already has 2 kids) and then a few months later she got pregnant while on the pill and found out minutes before she was to have surgery! It was crazy.
I did Clomid for about 4 or 5 months back in '09, but didn't get pg on it. I do know that the chances of twins are a bit higher with it. But if that were to happen, you'd be just fine, like you said.
Sounds like a good game plane! I never went that far with testing with me since everything initially looked really good and I had nothing slightly concerning going on. I wouldn't panic too much about clomid. It really depends on how your body reacts to it as far as producing more follicles. Some won't O well without it, some don't do anything with it, some produce more eggies, some produce A LOT of eggies. KUP!
Glad you had a good appointment and have a plan for moving forward. I'm not sure what test specifically the egg quality test is. I've had just about everything done at this point, including lots of hormone levels to look at egg reserve/quality. Hopefully Clomid will do the trick for you!

I O on my own, so the Clomid isn't to make me O as much as it is to check my FSH levels and ovarian reserve/egg quality. As I understand it, the test can't tell me things are "great" but it can tell me that nothing is wrong.
Thanks for the support everyone! My BF is pregnant with twins right now as a result of IVF (her fallopian tubes were scarred). I told her about the appointment and she died laughing. She was like "If you had twins people would think 'the hoochies' (yes, we had that nickname in college!) are trying to repopulate the earth!
Yay! Happy for you!!
Twins would be fun Lots of people in my life are having twins right now!
As for the egg quality test- my BFF was told her egg quality was too low (she tried to donate eggs) and that she'd need fertility help when she TTC... She has gotten pregnant on the 1st or 2nd try TWICE since then... so IDK how reliable the egg quality test is!
If they say it's good- then yay! if they tell you its poor-I wouldnt put too much faith in that!!
