    Default Pregnancy and Humira

I have had Psoriasis since the age of 8, and up until a few months ago I had just come to terms with the fact that I would be covered in scaly, itchy, red skin for the rest of my life. Until I had a glimmer of hope and a doctor convinced me to see a new dermatologist. Well long story short he prescribed me Humira, which is injected every other week. Well the doctor told me it would take four months to see results but I have seen them in the first two weeks. I feel like I have been given a new take on life. While I was in the doctor's office, he let me know that Humira is a category "B" drug and is FDA approved to be safe to take during pregnancy.

I have been doing research myself, and have found mixed reviews. DH and I have decided it is worth it for me to continue my Psoriasis treatment with Humira during pregnancy due to the mental effects that the disease has on me. After having DS #1, my Psoriasis has taken over my body and therefore my life. Being able to be free of this is unlike any freedom I could imagine and something I hold very sacred to my life.

I am wondering if anyone has had personal experience with Humira and pregnancy? Although I have no reason to fear my use of the drug during pregnancy, I can't help but let it cross my mind. Just hoping for some perspective. Thanks Ladies!!

I have not had any personal experience, but I had a roommate once who had it and it made her incredibly self conscious, and she would have issues like giant flakes of skin in her hair from her scalp. She was always scratching and itching. If it's a category B drug it has gone though some pretty thorough testing and should be fine for you to take during pregnancy. No matter what drug, chemical or whatever you research, you will find people who swear that is what cause an issue, if there was an issue, so I would take personal reviews with a grain of salt since you don't know what other factors could have played a role in their complaint. Of course, any mother is always concerned that something she does might harm her unborn child in some way, but I agree with you that your mental health and overall health is super important, especially since pregnancy hormones can make some women a bit anxious. I know it did me.

I'm so glad to know that you've found something that works for you and that you have a new lease on life as a result! i wish you a very HH9M.
