    Default Questions on OPK tests

This is a repost from the Do you see a Line section:

I am new to this section & just have a few Q's about the Ovulation tests, I have the Wondfo ones. I just tested tonight CD8 because I am having some cramps I dont normally get mid month. It was only about 2.5 hours after last "bathroom break" and its definetly not positive, but Im wondering if it would be if it was 4hrs since last pee.

Do these get darker, like if I test tomorrow afternoon would it just continue to get darker until its positive? Thats the idea Im getting. last month it was definetly a + on CD17 but then again I also got a + pregnancy test at 11DPO but then AF at 12DPO with the same brand pg test so its a little hard to totally trust these!

I never used these last pg it happened right away for us. This is my 5th month trying so we grabbed them to try. I am on the fertilaid as well starting this month & just got our preseed since I dont seem to get much if any EWCM.

Im off Mirena for 6 months now and I dont know I think it may have messed me up. My LP seems to be ranging from 11-12 days and my ovulation days have been CD18 & CD23 on the months I have used the OPK, I am not charting - to much with DD around and my sleeping is all over the place.... so CD8 seems so early?

Any ideas? sorry there are so many Q's in here just trying to figure out what my body is doing here!

And my update from this morning when I saw my OB.

She didnt seemed concerned by anything but said that since I was she would do some tests. I am going for bloodwork on Day 3 & 21 of my cycles, as well as DH for a SA. She said if they come back ok that she would send me for a dye test at the radiologists but that was kinda invasive so she wants me to try this first. She also said she wouldnt mind putting me on Clomid to help regulate my cycles. Im happy she seemes to be taking me seriously I was worried she would brush me off. She also said that since I already have a DS that i shouldnt have a blockage usually, and that she would assume DH to be ok as well since he is pretty healthy but well check it out anyways. We were trying before when DS was about 1.5 for a few months & nothing then either.

    On CD#3 I go for:
    FSH
    LH
    ESTRADIOL
    PROLACTIN
    DHEAS
    ANDROSTENEDINE
    17 HYDROXYPROGESTERONE
    TESTOSTERONE

    CD21
    PROGESTERONE

Glad to hear your dr. didn't brush you off and tell you to keep trying for a while before she ran tests. I've BTDT (being brushed off and then being tested). It's nice to have some answers to know if everything is at least working properly (in my case, it wasn't). Hopefully, everything is fine and you'll get your BFP soon.

    To answer the OPK question...
There can be small surges that don't result in ovulation. Keep testing twice a day if you see a second line though and you should capture a dark, obvious positive. CD8 does seem early; especially if you've been ovulating around cd18-23. Which reminds me...if you ovulate late, go for your "CD21" blood test 7 days after ovulation.

I don't know about that brand, but I have taken exactly 100 Walgreens brand tests in the last 100 days (I know this, because I buy them by the 20 count box, and just bought my 6th box today), and there is no pattern to the darkness of the test line. Some days it is faint, some days it isn't there, and others it is darker but still not close enough to the control line to give me any hope. At first I thought the test line would just keep getting darker until I finally O'ed, but that hasn't happened.

I highly recommend testing at least twice a day when there is a line. Gets pretty expensive pretty fast if you have super long cycles though!

Ok I need to make a trip to Maine to get some OPKs! Houlton is only an hour from me and we do go for groceries from time to time anyway.

I pay $45 for 9 tests!!! My other option is $40 for 7. They do have them at the dollar store for $1.25 but I'm not sure how good they are (I went for some of these this month and not a single positive, I even alternated with the expensive brand which gave me a light line so I'd be less likely to miss my O if the tests were a bust) and no one I know has ever tried them

Thanks for the replies - yes I was definetly happy she was listening to my concerns! I started fertilaid this month as well and I dont know if it "works" this fast or if this is causing it but my CM is crazy this month! compared to there being almost none the past few months this month I have a ton!

I am still testing & so far I dont think ive gotten the positive. Should be soon my CM today seemed to be watery! And I am on CD12

Thank you for the advice on the days for bloodwork as well thats great to know!

I just started fertilaid this month too! and fertil CM as well. I also got fertilaid for men but my husband can't swallow a pill so he can't take them. He opened the capsle and put it in his mouth and it tasted bad so he won't take them. LOL. If you want them though I'll send them to you free for shipping. Let me know
