Research I've done. (M/C Ment)

I'm sure most of you already know about ALL of this but I just did some research today because I've had M/C in the past...and I've noticed a GREAT change in my body since the addition of herbal supplements

Maca and Vitex balance hormones - as you all probably know as well.

They can also help with my egg quality. My AMH was 0.52 so I'm hoping that did the trick. We never got DH sperm tested but he took Maca and co q10 as well. I did notice a change in the consistency (amt and quality) of his output as well...sorry for TMI

But all of this leads me to believe that my body NEEDS the hormonal balance in order to operate correctly...it certainly didn't do it on its own last cycle. No open cervix, no soft cervix..no EWCM. I played the guessing game and it was not until this cycle where I felt and saw OBVIOUS changes that I knew what to look for.

Anyway..enough with my blabbering - excited whims...I want to share a link to an article because it taught me a lot.

What I've learned is that progesterone helps soften the uterus so the egg can implant. I learned that progesterone keeps the pregnancy in tact. I also learned that healthy progesterone levels will cause the temperature spike after ovulation. Again...I'm sure most of you know this...I'm just sharing mostly just in case...and also because I'm excited.

I also learned that egg quality can be improved and to improve it...
1. Hormonal Balance = maca and vitex
2. Hydration = 64oz of water a day (more or less due to BMI (Body Mass Index). For instance my BMI indicates I need more water...because I have more fat on my body Sad
3. Exercise
4. Fertility Massage

Be sure to read post 7 of the TTC tips for details on supplements for men and Post 8 for supplements for women; there is a huge list of supplements that I researched and summarized. I'm currently taking the following and my CD 3 test results were wonderful - the nurse was surprised given that I'm 40 Smile

calcium 500mg/day
Pycogenol 100 mg/day
L-arginine 500mg x4day
Wheatgerm x2/day
Prenatal
Vitamin B complex
Omega3
DHEA 25mg x3/day
CoQ10 200mg x2/day
Ubiquinol 200mg/day

Plus herbs per my acupuncturist - support of ovaries and uterus. The herbs you can google.
Ovex x2/day (Days 1-12)
Utrophin PMG x2/day (days 7-21)

Christa,
Which CD did you start these supplements and how long into the cycle did you take them? Continuously?

My midwife wants to wait until I get a BFP to test my progesterone. I'm so nervous. I just don't want another M/C

I've never had more than one in a row. I had a M/C right before my 1st DD...I lost that baby at 10.5 weeks but they said per U/S that the baby had died at 8 weeks gestation

Then I lost another one right before my 2nd daughter was born.

If we didn't catch this egg I'm going to take these supplements.

Hi

I started these supplements two months ago. I was told to wait the first cycle after my miscarriage - not counting the bleeding from the miscarriage itself - (wouldn't have matter if we did try, it was an odd 26 day cycle with only an 11 day luteal phase). I'm now on cycle 2 and will be trying for sure this month!

I take all of these daily, continuously; I would ask my RE after I get a BFP which to continue, I know the prenatal, calcium, vitamin b, and omega are good to continue for sure after a BFP. The others I don't know - I don't think they would hurt based on what I've read, but just to be cautious I will be asking Smile When I get an answer, I will let you know.

Steph - how much of the maca root did your midwife say to take? My bottle is 60mg and it says to take 3x daily. Is that bear what you take? With my wonky cycles unthought it sounded like a logical thing to take (after researching). Just curious what you are taking Smile

I actually take Vitex (1 capsule 400mg 3x a day)
CoQ10 (1 capsule 200mg 1x a day)
And my Maca is in a hormone balance package I bought.
It's called Femmenessence MacaHarmony
I take one capsule in the morning and the second in the afternoon.

This package has organic maca root concentrate 500mg and 8mg of Potassium

I also started taking evening primrose oil until I ovulated
I've been taking a food based prenatal vitamin

I track my water intake and TRY to drink at least 85oz a day but I don't always get there

I started this cycle with Peach Detox tea as well for 3 days.
Then switched to red raspberry leaf tea and I'm going to continue that until 7DPO

I've seen tremendous differences in my cycle. I never really tracked them before...
but I also know that I haven't seen EWCM in a very long time.

Last month I got a positive OPK but never got the EWCM.
I was playing the guessing game on whether or not I actually had watery CM...
Playing the guessing game about my cervical changes.

This month...after taking these supplement. I had watery CM. EWCM. Positive OPK and undeniable changes to my cervix.

But like I say, if we didn't catch this egg we'll be doing the same thing Christa is doing. I'll try to follow her guidelines to the T
