Surgery tomorrow XP

Well, ladies, tomorrow is the big day. I'm having surgery to remove endometriosis, check my bladder for interstitial cystitis, my uterus for abnormalities, and flushing out my tubes. I'm half excited and have scared to death. Wink

I know this isn't going to solve all my problems. The doctor said I definitely have some adenomyosis (basically endometriosis which invaded the uterine muscle), and that can't be treated except with a hysterectomy. But I am very hopeful that between flushing out my tubes and cleaning out the endo, I'll get pregnant quickly. Pregnancy will put the adenomyosis in remission, so that's really the best case scenario.

If he has to cut anything out of my ovaries, he'll put me on BC pills for three months. Otherwise, I'm free to TTC the next cycle.

I would appreciate prayers for a successful surgery and a quick recovery, if you have a moment or two. Thanks for all the support! Smile

I bet you'll feel a lot better once this is over both emotionally and physically. :bigarmhug: Let us know how it all went when you can. Take care sweetie!

Good question. Surgery starts at 10:30. I think a general rule of thumb is 1 hour per stage of endo. So if I have stage 2 endometriosis, which is what my doctor thinks, it shouldn't take longer than about 2 hours. But if he goes in and finds I'm stage 4, it could be a 4 hour surgery. I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

I'll be thinking of you today! I hope he doesn't find anything on your ovaries and you can get back to TTC sooner rather than later!

Good luck! I know you're nervous.....I was too before my surgery. But it is all going to go well, and will be over before you know it.

Hope your recovery is speedy. Let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.

Thank you all. Smile

Here's what I know so far: I had stage 2 endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and an "abnormal" appendix. He excised the endometriosis and took out the appendix, but hasn't done anything with the IC (I don't think you usually treat that surgically, though). My husband couldn't remember the doctor saying anything about endo on my ovaries, but he's really bad at remembering conversations.

My tubes were clear, btw, so that wasn't a cause of my sub-fertility. I suppose that means I have a pretty good chance of getting pregnant soon after we start TTC. Hopefully most of my pain will be gone as soon as I'm healed, but the fact that I have both interstitial cystitis and adenomyosis means that there will still be a lot of symptoms left. Oh well. Overall, I'm glad I had the surgery.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. Sounds like you're back on the TTC train? Sorry to hear you'll still have symptoms though.
