    Thumbs down Vitamin D

Well, I got a call from my Dr. today that I have a Vitamin D deficiency. She told me I would need to take supplements but want me to talk to the infertility specialist first. (appt March 13th) I wonder if there is any correlation between the Vitamin D deficiency and my lack of getting pregnant? At least that would be an explanation if there was a correlation. Anywhose...seems like this cycle is at a standstill. I just want AF to get here already, I am getting so worn out of cycle after cycle of BFN. Ugh, can't wait for the infertility appointment. Sorry this post turned into a vent/rant.

A lot of Americans are supposedly low on vit D. I have ran across stuff in the past that links low vit D to women who have trouble ovulating.

Hmmm...that's odd. Maybe they just want you to talk to the RE to make sure the supplements aren't hurtful if you get pregnant. I have a vitamin D deficiency too and it's pretty bad. It's not all the uncommon though. I take 2000units a day and my vitamin D is back to normal. My fingernails and all grow faster too. Lol. I don't think it'll be a big deal. And once you get the supplement you'll probably have a lot more energy.

And don't feel bad for venting or ranting. I do that daily these days. Trying is just so frustrating after all this time. It seems like it'll never happen and in a way it's more frustrating when there is no answer. When everything appears to be all normal and it still doesn't happen all you can think is WTH after a while. I know how you feel sweetie! Big giant HUGS!

Thanks ladies! I have been feeling exhausted for SO long now, so it's nice to know there is a reason behind that and that I can resolve it soon.

It's funny you mention that, Gina. Once I hung up the phone I thought to myself, "Did the Dr. really just tell me I needed 5000 Vit D a day?" Then I thought, "Nah, must have said 1000." lol, apparently it WAS 5000, which I will find out at my infertility appointment anyways but I didn't realize you could get it in such high amounts.

Not uncommon for someone living at the latitude where you live to need a vit D supplement, especially during the winter. We're in Iowa and don't spend much time in the sun during the winter. My entire family takes vit D (or a multi-vit with D). Hope you feel better after you start taking vit D!

Thank you so much Beth! I'm hoping once I am on Vit D I will notice a big difference in energy level! And yes, it is very dark here in the winter time, one of the reasons I love summer time so much!
