Weekend Chat!

What is everyone doing this weekend? Anything interesting going on?

We are having DD's 1st birthday party today and I am exhausted getting ready for it the last few days. It's outdoors at a park and there's a 60% chance for rain today after the worst drought in a very long time!!

That does sound exhausting! I bet you'll all have a good time though! I hope it doesn't rain until the party is over.

DH and I are going over to my mom's to spend the day with her. She and my step dad have been out of town the last week visiting my nephew and since we're traveling at the next few weekends we won't get to see her so we're going today. We might hit up a corn maze or go do some hiking trails up on the mountains and then make my mom's famous cookies. Mmmm...(DH is addicted to them).

I hope you and your DD have a great time at her party !

We are making Halloween cookies for our family today with Ashlynn. She is having a great time. We are breaking now for her nap and then we are going to go to a Chili cook-off. I've never been to one before so I am so excited to go get some yummy food.

Happy Birthday to DD, Anna! I hope the rain gave you a nice gap for the party...and then comes down in buckets for a few days!!!! I know how badly you need it down there.

Nothing much going here. I'm trying to rest and recover from being sick all week. Definitely still not completely myself yet, but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi! We have Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. Also, I threw a Paris themed baby brunch for my friend today (crepes, croissants, brie puff pastry, and mini quiche!) and went to another friend's 40th birthday party. I found out on Thursday that MIL and SIL are coming for the weekend from out of town, so we're scrambling to move the church stuff out of our guest room and get all the food together to do thanksgiving dinner a day early to accommodate them. Smile Fun! Smile

Thanks! The rain started about an hour into the party so we had to rush rush through gifts, which there weren't very many of so it was short. As soon as I got home and put DD down for her nap it started really coming down with thunder and lightening. It's been going all day getting lighter and picking up again. It's really awesome. Of course everyone around here is hoping this signals an end to an endless drought!

I am hoping DH gets to come home soon for a few days. He's been gone for 13 days today for work. He recently started this job and will be gone about 20 days a month (not supposed to be consecutive really). We are still adjusting to this new life. DH and I haven't been apart for more than a week since we started dating 10 years ago, and even the week only happened once.

That's stinky. My DH worked in Green Bay for two months when we were dating (we're from Ohio) and it was HORRIBLE. I flew out and visited once, but I was just miserable. We aren't apart much anymore. Hope your hubby gets to be home soon.

AFM, nothing too exciting going on here. Church in the morning and a family cookout tomorrow evening, but other than that, I'm just laying low.

Apparently we're enjoying the rain too this weekend! Monday morning we're taking my car in to be looked at (general upkeep, nothing wrong) and to change the oil/rotate tires. I was hoping to tour the local winery, but rain kept up away today.
Tomorrow is church and I'm making a new recipe (most things in town are closed on Sunday).

DD and I didn't make it to church this morning. She woke up just after 6:30 so she was ready for a nap by 9. And besides is rainy and cold out and we've had a very busy week. I don't think we'll even make it out of our pj's today! We'll likely just lay around and play with her toys.

I hope your DH comes home soon too Anna! I can't imagine my DH being gone for that long, or at all really. We've only spent two nights apart since maybe May of 2009 I think. One time he had to go out of town for his brother's graduation and his mom didn't want me to go because we weren't married yet...so I stayed home and it was awful we hated it. The only other time was the night before our wedding. Probably silly at that point but we thought it would be more exciting if we didn't see each other until the day of the wedding. It was so hard though because I was so nervous and he calms me down and he wasn't there! Oh well. All ended perfectly, or began rather. Hehe. So I understand how you feel! It's hard to be away from those we love. Hope he comes home soon!

Yeah, we aren't one of those couples who do better apart. We love being around each other. We can spend a week on a tiny 19 foot boat on a lake and be totally happy. We are known amongst friends as hermits because we almost never go out and would rather spend our time together at home just hanging out. It's beginning to look like he isn't going to get to come home though. He called today and said that it looks like he's going to get sent straight to another location after the current job is done tomorrow or Tuesday.

Sounds just like me and my DH. Everyone makes fun of us for never going anywhere really and not caring if we do. If we do go anywhere we take hiking trips. Everyone says we're boring but we love being boring together so it's okay. Haha. I'm sorry he isn't coming home soon. That's just no fun at all. My DH is going to be getting a new job within a year or so and they have the option to travel for work and I'm already worried about that...I already told him he wasn't allowed to travel unless I could come too, especially if it's to Germany or Austria or something. Haha.

My DH and I are totally the same. We don't go out or do a ton of stuff (usually one nice vacation a year.) We just hang out together and do stuff at home. We like being boring together. Smile

I'm sorry he isn't going to get home Anna. Sad I know it's hard to be on your own so much. :bigarmhug:
