    Default Weight and TTC

I'm about 10lbs over what I normally weight and I simply have NO MOTIVATION to do anything about it becuase I want to be pregnant! I know that's not the right attidude becuase I should be working out and eating healthy when I am pregnant too... but at least then I'll have a good excuse to be over my ideal weight and the pressure will be off. Ugh. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm the same, thats my excuse for never getting back into shape after having babies, because I was just going to have another so why bother lol. I actually weighed 5lbs less when I got pg with DS2 than when I did with DS1, but I was still BFing. I had gotten back down to that after DS2 was born as well, but in between my laziness, m/c-ing and weaning I now weigh 10lbs more, which is my highest non-pg weight to date. I did however order a set of pregnancy DVDs, so hopefully I can at least get into a bit better shape during my pregnancy, and hopefully that will help me feel better.

I feel much the same way. I was actually pretty motivated at first but then I pulled my achilles tendon again and it's hard now not to just sit on my butt even though walking is fine as long as I wear the air cast. I'm probably about 10 pounds over too, at least I think I am, and I'd really like to get it off before I get pregnant, but I feel like going through all the ups and downs of TTC has made food more appealing or something. I'll have a bad TTC day and I'm like "Hmmm I could have chocolate cake later that'd make me feel better." That's probably not the best way to go about it. Lol.

I was feeling that way in the beginning but then once I got past cycle 3 of trying I thought I better get off my arse and workout LOL. I am doing Chalean Extreme with my hubby now and I think it's helping us to bond on a whole new level! I started working out a year ago and have lost 50lbs! I still need to lose another 50 and I'm gonna try to do it while we are TTC and if it doesn't happen I will still work out while preggo and maybe I can lose it after the baby is born. I love Chalene Johnson and she is so motivating I will do her program even when I don't feel like working out and break a great sweat! (like last night) My husband has never really been one to work out and I'm so proud of him! He's such a trouper Doing it with him really encourages me to actually do it too cuz I know if I don't do it he won't and I want to be a good influence

I had the same issue when I was TTC #1. Between depression (TTC for several years got to me) and medications, I was 10-15 pounds over my normal weight when I got pg, but I was lucky. I gained in the normal range and dropped down to my normal weight fairly quickly after DS was born. I actually re-started exercising after I got pg (LOTS of walking). I'm trying to maintain healthy habits to help prevent getting depressed and to make it easier to exercise if I get pg. I remind my self that a healthy body now means a healthy place for a baby to grow!

Gina...WAY TO GO!!! A 50 lb. weight loss must have been challenging! Has your dr. noticed a change in your blood pressure or other health measures?

I gained more weight than I should have with DS, so my motivation while TTC is for me to start off with a lower weight (as opposed to my current weight) and to be more active during my next pregnancy than I was with DS. I don't want to gain another 40+ pounds again just for one baby! Even with BFing, I haven't managed to get down to my pre pregnancy weight. I was at my lowest weight before getting pregnant with DS, but then thought "hey, I can be lazy now!" which is definitely the wrong attitude to have. It really is best to be active before pregnancy and all through pregnancy.

I was the opposite of everyone else, I LOST weight during my 1st pregnancy (I wasn't trying to lose) I didn't see the scale move back up until the last tri and I had an overall weight "gain" of -5lbs. 2 days after DD was born I was 40lbs lighter than prepregnancy (I had very high blood pressure and a lot of water retention, I couldn't wear shoes even a full size up!) over the next 6 months I gained it all back despite counting calories I don't think I can expect the same results a second go round so I'm trying to establish good habits first

That's awesome! Not only are you a good influence for your husband, but it's great for kids to see their parents moving!
