When do you DTD around your O date?

For those of you charting / using OPK's, when do you DTD to try to catch that egg?

I've heard you've got better changes of conceiving if you DTD prior to your O date, though I've also heard that once you get your + OPK to DTD a.s.a.p. then for 3 days after (understanding that you could O up to approx 48 hrs after getting the +).

Why is TTC so confusing? LOL

We do it for pretty much the entire week leading up and then a couple days after. It's hard work, but somebodys got to do it!

We DTD each day for five days up to O and then sometimes the day of and after. Sperm can live 3-5 days, so we figure that is the safe way to go. I read that it can take a day or two for the sperm to reach the egg, so if you DTD the day you O, it can be too late. I also read that mens' sperm counts are higher in the morning, so we've been trying to DTD in the AM lately. All this said, I never thought it would be so complicated and so much work to get pregnant. I wish I had taken the plunge in my twenties. Smile

DH and I try to DTD a couple times in the week before I think I will O. I figure since the sperm will hang around a few days, that's probably good. But if it takes more than a few months this time we'll probably get more serious about trying. I honestly can't imagine DTD every day for a week right now though  It's funny, because when DH and I were younger and it was earlier in our relationship, we actually WANTED to DTD every day. Now we are lucky to squeeze it in once a week or so.

Don't get me wrong, it's not easy getting my DH to DTD everyday for a week. Our normal schedule is just like yours. Like you said, it was different when we were first married, but it's been 17 years now. BUT...we are now on a mission. LOL He is really trying to do his part, especially after losing our first baby. He knows how much it means to me, and I can hear my clock ticking away. Smile

I hear you. This month was the first that I had a good handle on my fertile days and possible O day so we DTD every other day on my fertile days and on my O day. Poor DH had a rotten cold but was a good sport about it - I kind of felt bad since he was exhausted. We've been married 10 years and both our sex drives have dwindled a bit. Still, I'm enjoying the excuse that I'll be ovulating soon to hop in the sack more - lol

Everything I've read said to DTD every other day right around your O time so that you have gotten even coverage, and DH has time to build up his reserves. My O date is early after DD came along, but it used to be late. We DTD every other day from around day 12 to day 18.

You can always check an Ovulation predictor online for possible O dates. They give you a suggested fertile period, which helps you get a starting point at least.

We just DTD whenever we have the time and/or energy. Blum 3 We're lucky if we manage to BD twice in my fertile window.
