Tiffany...glad this week went quickly for you. Did you find some Christmas lights? Hope DH's job opportunity works out for him.

Margaret...Hopefully 3 times the charm for you with the job interview. You should be pro at interviews now. Hope you can talk to your friend while she's close by. Can't wait to see pics from tonight. Have fun!!

A soldier from a town nearby was killed in Afghanistan. His family lives in my town. His body was flown into a local airport and they had a motorcade from the airport all the way to the town where his funeral is being held. It went through our town. It was the neatest/saddest thing. A pretty big highway goes through our town and the street was lined with flags on both sides for probably 2-3 miles. They wanted ppl to gather and line the highway while the motorcade went through with his body. I went up to it and they let the high school and middle school students out to line the street by the schools. It was solid ppl. It was pretty emotional. It was amazing how quiet it got when his body was coming through. He is being buried in our town. There was also a huge flag flying.

I got more Christmas presents wrapped. I have most of them done now.

This interview is basically to see if the lady I would be working with and I get along. If so I will have a job offer. Apparently they love me there I am pretty easy to work with so I think it will be fine.

Here soldiers are flown into Trenton Air Force Base and then they drive the bodies to Toronto for autopsy. It is a 2 hour drive on the highway. At every overpass people park (police, fire trucks and ambulances as well) and wait and salute the motorcade as it passes by. They have officially named that part of the highway "Highway of Heroes" and there has been a song written about it. Highway of Heroes 2nd link Have to warn you the second link is in response to a Fox News article, I do not see all Americans as heartless but there is a picture during the slide show that shows a friend of mine standing on his fire truck with his crew. All my family live along the Highway of Heroes and all of us (only one time for me) have stood on bridges to salute these brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Hoping for a job offer for you!!

I'm sure his body was flown into somewhere in the US. Then he was flown to an airport close to his hometown in Iowa. It's about a 50 mile drive from the airport to his hometown. I guess there are over 900 flags lining the highway in our town. They will stay up until after his burial tomorrow. This was his 2nd tour. His first one was in Iraq. He had a wife. Both of my BIL have been to Iraq or Afghanistan. One of them was deployed twice to both places. He said Afghanistan is more dangerous than Iraq. He is now retired from the Army.

In the book I'm reading the young girl just finds out her soldier dad, who was MIA, was found dead. It's a good book. I'm hoping to finish it tonight so I can start another one.

I think we'll watch "War Horse" tonight. We gave it to DD3 for her bday. We are going to see "War Horse" in December at a live theater. I'm going to have the girls make dinner. It's something that's easy enough for them and they'll have fun. It's BBQ muffin bites. I'm going to brown the hamburger though since it's still frozen. Then they can do the rest. My dad and sister left this afternoon to drive 9 hrs to get her vehicle that got wrecked by the deer 3 weeks ago. They got it fixed since it wasn't totaled out.

I am glad your town is so supportive of that soldier's family. I really could not imagine what it would be like to lose my brother or my son and the whole thing just makes me sad.

We have been doing some entertaining this weekend. I love cooking but I am too tired to do the job I would love to do... still, it is nice to have company over.

Got the trees at Menard's. DH is going to put them up today.

I am also working on a craft project - matching shirts and onesies for the family. Will put up photos - but just getting the t-shirts washed will take today and we need a little more dye. So, more on the honey-do list.

We got some aluminum sealable containers from the dollar store. I am planning on making and freezing some king ranch casseroles and some other casseroles. I guess I am nesting. As much as I can. From the lazy-boy chair I am relegated to these days.

Glad you found some trees. I can't wait to see the shirts when you are done with them. I'm curious as to how you are doing them if it involves dye. Good idea to freeze some meals ahead of time. I'm sure they will come in handy. Are you still working? Hope you are taking it easy!

It was a neat thing to see all the flags lining the highway. It just makes me sad to think of the sacrifice he made for our country.

We've been having a lazy day so far today. Got some laundry done. I need to go to the store also got get groceries for tonight's dinner. I think we'll watch "Elf" tonight on ABC Family.

The hospital laundry service donated a TON of scrubs for Nicaragua...like over 60 pairs. Our plan is to take them down there, wear them and leave them there. We are only allowed a carry on as all of our luggage will be for other stuff to take and leave.

Our "Elf" forgot to move again last night. I keep forgetting to move him. I hoping that the girls will figure out that it is us who moves him around and that he doesn't leave every night to report to Santa and come back.

Margaret...how was DH's work party? Hope you had lots of fun!!

The TV I bought at Target for $150 on Black Friday is now on sale at target.com for $129. Goes to show that Black Friday prices aren't the cheapest. I said they could actually jack the prices up on things and ppl would still buy them because they think they are getting a good deal. The extra $20 I spent isn't worth packaging the TV back up and returning it. Target won't do a price match on Black Friday or online deals either. I'm just glad I didn't stand outside in the cold and wind for hours to get the TV. Then I might be a little upset.

I'm taking DD3 to JC Penny for a haircut. Kid's haircuts are free on Sundays. Then I have a couple things I want to pick up for DH for Christmas. It is so unseasonably nice. The temperature is in the 50's. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll have a white Christmas. I don't need a lot of snow but to at least have white on the ground would be nice.

Have I mentioned how much I hate wrapping presents! I love everything else about the holidays...I have everything wrapped that I have so far. I thought getting a head start would make it better.

We're doing our outdoor lights this afternoon. Its 65 degrees here today so it should be a beautiful day to do it.

Meg- You're doing elf on a shelf? I was thinking about starting that this year, but DD is only 2. I don't think she would quite understand it yet. It would be more for me than for her...hehe. Maybe next year....

I think this is our 5th year we've done the Elf on a Shelf. We don't get as creative doing it as some ppl. I'm kind of to the point where I feel the girls are too old to actually be believing it's real. If they admit they don't believe it we'll still hide it for fun.

Does anyone else get that annoying Panasonic camera ad when they come on here?

I did some wrapping as I bought things this year. Or at least got them packaged into boxes. I've been doing a few at a time. I'm basically done. We don't have a lot under our tree because I sent all of DH's family's gifts with his parents a couple weeks ago. The girls aren't getting much since we are going on a cruise in May. That's their Christmas present. We wrapped up a Disney Cruise DVD we got in a big box with stuff in it to make it heavy. Then we put a jar of broken glass so it sounds like something is broken. We are trying to throw them off a bit.

At our mall some kids are wrapping presents for charity. If I had to do it all myself I swear I would just pay them to do it. Every cent goes toward a good cause and it would save me some trouble. I generally don't hate wrapping... I do try to do something to make them special, though that is only when I have time.

We are not doing Elf on a Shelf. I think we are going to discuss how it is Jesus' birthday and Santa brings us presents in celebration of Jesus' birthday. I am sure this will bring up more questions, but my soon-to-be-4-year-old is big into birthdays.

We decided not to do a major birthday party this year. With the money we saved I bought him a bounce house. They are not as expensive as I would have thought on Amazon and can be kept inside. I am crazily excited about this. Being pregnant with the twins does give me a little freedom to get some things that he might grow out of... and a 12X9 foot bounce house is one of them.

And, yes, I hate the panasonic app.

As for getting lots of gifts, DS does not really need much. So his big present is going to be for his birthday. I am sure we will get him some kind of outdoor play set this spring - hopefully off of Craigslist.
