DH and I both love to travel. We studied abroad together (Spain) when we were 19 and really haven't stopped since. It is something that drew us together. No one in either of our families (sibling-wise) likes to travel as much as we do.

I almost lost my sister when I was 19. She was in the ICU for 6 weeks with a brain injury and that was the hardest time of my life by far. Hard to almost lose her. Hard to see my parents go through almost losing a child. Things looked very bad for many weeks. Even once she was out of the ICU she was quite sick. It is not anywhere the same as losing someone, but I got a taste for what it might be like and it changed my life completely.

We are not sure if one of these two has colic. One is definitely fussier, but colic was 8 hrs a day (at least) of nearly unconsolable crying. We spent many hours walking and holding him... which made me crazy but also helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy size pronto. And now that I have been through that once it is not as big of a deal, because I know it will pass.

I know that going to places like Nicaragua has been an eye opening experience for us in the past. It is something I hope to do with my kids once they get to be teenagers and can help out and see that their problems really are minute in comparison to what many other people are facing. I guess you don't have to travel around the world to see that. Also, you really do see that people can survive (and thrive) with very little in the way of objects.

I didn't get the job. I am taking it pretty hard. I feel so bad that I have not been working and we want to get out of debt. I hate this.

Tiffany - that must have been so hard. My sister's death was pretty immediate. My family was camping (several sites), she took the baby to put him to bed, my brother followed her about 5 minutes later, when he got there she was gone. Two of my sisters were pregnant and went into pre-term labour (one was 5.5 months the other 7), they were able to get it stopped but it was so hard on all of us.

My brother is one of the directors for a soup kitchen so my family helps out there a lot. They do meals every Saturday. Our family has always been encouraged to help others.

My skin is so freaking dry, it even hurts at times it is so dry I have coconut oil that I should try on it.

The hockey game started so I am off.

Margaret...bummer about the job. Have you had any other interviews. My sister has been unemployed for quite some time. She's a nurse but became burned out with the ICU/ER. She applied at Kohl's and they didn't even hire her. It's so hard to find a job. Hope the coconut oil helps.

Tiffany...that had to be so scary with your sister. My biggest fear is something happening to my sisters or parents. I'm super close to my mom, we talk on the phone at least once a day.

Margaret...that was a very sudden death. Was it an allergic reaction she died from? DH's wife went to the ER on a Thursday evening with abd. pain, by Friday evening (after emergency surgery), she was gone. DH had to make the decision to stop any means of life support and blood products. I think by that time she had had 40 units of blood products.

I feel really guilty going on this trip while doing a big bathroom remodel. These ppl don't even have bathrooms. My mom was saying last year they had plastic table cloths on the ground to use as a surface to make crafts. When they packed up to leave one village there was one missing. She had said a lady had been eyeing it. I'm sure she took it. A $2 plastic table cloth can be used as a wall or a floor in their house. She bought a few for this year but if there is room in our luggage she'll buy some more to put on the donation table. I was showing DD a pic of a homeless little boy and her response was "that's not a boy, that's a girl" because of his long hair. I had to explain that they don't get to go get their haircut like we do. Some families have their young children and babies go naked because then they don't need to worry about doing their laundry and about them going to the bathroom.

Meg - I think it is so cool what you are doing and I do think those trips are good reminders as to what you can and can't live without. I bet you will stress less over the remodel when you come back. It is cool that you are sharing the experience with the girls. We all live very luxurious lives compared to many places in the world.

After my sister's accident I went from being happy-go-lucky to much more focused. I am sure most people don't think I have a sense of humor. Anyway, I barely resemble the person I was before her accident. I am sure you were forever changed by losing your sister, Margaret.

My ILs took DS overnight so we could just focus on the babies. It allowed us to get quite a bit done - going through cards, cleaning, etc. And we all got a little more sleep than normal, maybe an hour more but that makes a huge difference.

Margaret - I hope you get a job soon. My DH has been underemployed and I know it stresses him out.

Well I hope you guys have a good day.

We are going to get stuff planned for a trip south next week.

My sister actually died from an asthma attack. She was a very severe asthmatic and was not supposed to live her first year. They did not do an autopsy but the ER doctors felt that her lungs and heart gave out with so much fluid in her lungs. She died June 30th but I always associate her death with Canada day (July 1st). I was kind of hoping Robbie would be born on June 30th but we did bring him home from the NICU on Canada day.

There are so many jobs here and that is what is frustrating me. There are thousands of jobs posted, some I will not go back to - nanny, retail, fast food... but there is lots of admin and accounting jobs... I am so used to getting a job offer whenever I have an interview

Tiffany - an extra hour of sleep would have felt awesome for you. I bet your family is excited to meet the boys.

Margaret...I couldn't remember quite for sure how she died. I'm glad you do have something to celebrate on that day to try to make it a bit more happier. Have you applied for other jobs?

Tiffany...that was nice of your ILs to take DS overnight. I'm sure he enjoyed himself.

Today we did a bunch of errands. After 4 trips to the court house in the last 2 weeks we finally got our boat registration paid for. We had to get DH's first wife's name off of the title which added more paperwork and us needing to get more things to do it. They have finally torn through the walls of the bathroom an are now gutting what used to be the bathroom. DD3 is staying at a friend's house tonight so it will be just 2 kids tonight. It is crazy what a difference there is between having 2 kids or 3 kids. Things are so much simpler with 2, which you wouldn't think since you are only taking one out of the equation.

Here are some before pics of the bathroom and ones after today after gutting everything. The first pic is of the vanity area. The second one is where the vanity used to be. The third pic is the toilet/shower area, where I was standing to take the second pic. The last pic is the new addition. It was built into the garage. In this area will be the walk in shower, toilet and linen cabinet. When all is said and done it will be an "L" shape

It looks like a remodel was long overdue. And it looks like you have plenty of space to do something cool. I can't wait to see the after photos.

I feel like I have a cold coming on. If so, I really hope I'm over the worst of it by the time we leave on Wednesday. My mom kind of feels the same way also. I guess if I'm going to get one it's better to get it now, then be miserable when we are there. I've been using Zicam in hopes of lessening the symptoms. I was hoping my cold I got after Christmas would've been enough for me to not get one before our trip.

DH is at a CME conference right now. Tonight is a nice dinner for it. It's usually a fun time with good food. I'm just picking up and cleaning some around the house so it's decent for DH's parents when we are gone. I'm not doing too much though since I'm sure it will get dusty with the construction.

I have been applying for jobs but none of the closing dates have occurred yet.

My MIL surprised us by taking Robbie tonight. It will be the last time for awhile as she is going on a trip.

Sean got a flat tire the other day so he has been driving my car. We took the car in today and the wheel barring is shot, the car is unsafe to drive. We won't know until Monday if the repair will be covered under warranty, either way it needs to be fixed.

Gonna have a girls night tomorrow night
