Mari...you do you have appt today?

    Margaret...how did the interview go?

Tonight is my parent's hog roast. We helped them out around the house yesterday and I'm going to make a couple pans of bars this morning. They are expecting around 100 ppl. DH, the girls, and my dad picked the hog up yesterday and got it ready to go in the smoker this morning. Here are some pics.

OMG, I could have sworn I posted this morning! Yes, I went I am scheduled for retrieval on Monday morning (10:30). I trigger tomorrow night at 11:45. I'm so nervous. I think this is the worst part of IVF because it's just out of your hands now. DO they fertilize? Then, am I pregnant? UGH!

That looks like it is going to be tasty. Your girls are gorgeous!!

I'll be thinking about you on Monday! I hope that you have a great weekend and that everything goes well for you in the coming weeks.

We had our follow up at the clinic, and the good news is that every test they ran on me not only came back normal, but better than average in some cases. They completely ruled out a uterine septum, which was awesome and a huge relief. The crap news was that since the sperm count was so low on the sample that they thawed for testing, we need to do ICSI. I'm contemplating shopping around for another clinic, because I can't get over the costs. We live close enough to the US that treatment in NY is feasible, and one clinic that was recommended to me was almost half the cost of what it'll be here. (FWIW, the local clinic is going to be $8,000 before meds and freezing of any remaining embryos, meds were estimated to be approx $4,000) Satellite monitoring is an option, but I need to weigh the pros and cons of traveling to a clinic that is 2.5+ hours away.

I think DH and I are going to wait for a couple of months before moving forward with this. With everything that's gone on in the past couple of years, we need to spoil ourselves for a bit, maybe take a vacation or something and try to put this at the back of our minds.

Jessica - do you or your husband have drug coverage? We were lucky and both our plans covered fertility drugs so we paid nothing for the meds. I was up to about $1200 worth when I had the allergic reaction. I think IVF is about the same here in Alberta, I know for my IUI it was going to be $250 and at least we don't have to pay for the testing.

Mari...good luck this morning. I can't wait to hear your update!

Margaret..glad the interview went well. Hope you hear something today.

Jessica...that's great news all the tests came out well on you. I live in the US and we paid between $15000-$20000/cycle so it may not be much cheaper to travel to the US. We did ICSI with all of our cycles because DH's sperm count was so low and he had an antisperm antibody. I agree...take a vacation and relax. How is DH doing?

My girls have 3 full days left before school starts. I'm off to a run with the younger two in a bit. DD2 is going to do cross-country in middle school so I thought it'd be good to get her out there to run and break in her shoes. The hog roast at my parent's went well and was a lot of fun.
