Mari...that is a hard decision to make, esp being told 2 different things by 2 different docs. Maybe talk to your high risk doc at your appt and let him know what you OB said. If it were me and work was stressful and I was told by a doc to not work, I probably would stop working. You want to do everything possible for your baby. You'd hate for something to happen and then you'd be telling yourself "if only I would've stopped working." I would say that the high risk doc is obviously more specialized in these kinds of things and I'm sure knows more about this than your OB. Your high risk doc may think it's ok for you to work but your OB doc may be being more cautious and telling you to stop working. It's a tough decision for you. I hope you can come to a decision that you are at peace with.

Those little babies were born on Monday night. The mom started dilating and having contractions that were unable to be stopped. They were born at 25 weeks. Baby boy weighed 1lb 12 oz and baby girl weighed 1lb 6 oz. They say they are doing well. The mom had to have a D&C later that night. As of last week at 24 weeks she was told if her babies were born then they'd have a 70% chance of survival.

Hey Everyone! Just dropping in this morning. I woke up a little earlier today since DH went back to work finally!! 16 days of no work and pay, so we are relieved! Although, he was moaning and groaning as he walked out the door. LOL!

I'm feeling a little nervous. When you see the RE you get used to those US and I haven't had one in over a week so I'm close to panic. I tried finding the HB on the doppler but nothing. I'm pretty sure I didn't find it till a little after 12 weeks last year so that keeps me grounded. I go on Monday for my 12 week scan and first consultation with the high risk. I have no idea what to expect!!!

Meg-have you heard anything about those little babies! So glad that they seemed healthy. That is so hit and miss at that age, there is a much higher risk they will be born with major problems.

I was thinking that about government ppl last night after I heard the shutdown ended. They had two weeks off which would stink because of no pay but it would be hard to go back to work.

Mari...I would try to put that doppler away until you are further along, I'm sure it's just too early. It is causing you unnecessary worry. I'd probably be doing the same thing as you though.

Those little babies had u/s on their brains the other day. Preemies have the risk of brain bleeds. The little girl had one bleed but it's a minor one that should be corrected on it's own. The little boy has 2 bleeds, both of which are the most serious. On the mom's FB page it said that he will most likely have developmental problems. Otherwise they seem to be doing well.

DD2 had her last cross country meet the other day. It was so cold and windy. It was a conference meet and her best run this season. She came in 17th in the conference. She said she did well because she was running towards her sweatshirt since she knew that was at the finish line. She is really going to miss cross country. She also found out yesterday she got accepted in the Talented and Gifted Program. Last night I went to a concert at my church. It was "Hilary and Kate." They were so good and had such a good message. Tonight DH and I are going to go to a play at a small local theatre. We've been busy staining our deck. It is taking so long. Our deck is huge (3 levels) and we are changing the color which takes a lot longer. We've already put in 13 hrs of staining (plus prep) and I'm estimating I have about 12 hrs left. I haven't been able to get much done because it's been too cold or rainy.

Yeah I know, it's so easy to stress over everything little thing. UHG I hate it.

When I was in the hospital last year, they were trying to keep me pregnant another week. They wanted me to make it to 24 weeks, but it came with SOOO many warnings. The list was long of all the possible things that may be wrong with the baby, it was terrifying. Unfortunately, I ended up going into labor on my own and they couldn't stop it but that always stuck with me. What if they would have kept me pregnant that one week...

That's awesome with DD. I think it's so great that she is into some kind of sport. My DD hates sports but loves Art, so we go with it. Whatever her interests are at the time we try to encourage it. Right now she's into the Rainbow Loom bracelets. We are impressed with all the different patterns she has learned to make on her own. Last year, she was into jewelry making with beads...LOL!

Oh and forgot to mention that I have been a nervous wreck all day. I had my first observation today and it went horribly wrong for the first time in my teaching career. It's just my kids are not well behaved this year. I couldn't take the stress and I emailed my principal with my concerns and she just wrote back that we can further discuss it tomorrow and to "please not stress it." I guess that's good right? You would think kids seeing the principal sitting in a room would make them be their best and they were actually at their worst. I hope I can get some good feedback tomorrow. I'm just more concerned since the new evalation system is very harsh and I dont want my very first one to be bad. UGH!

Mari...maybe your observation going badly will turn out to be a good thing. The principal may see the poor behavior of your students. Yes...try not to stress about it, the principal is right. I have come to believe that kids are so disrespectful these days and don't understand an authoritative figure. Last night at the concert at my church the confirmation kids were sitting and talking the whole time while the performers sang. They even continued to talk when the pastor went up to sit by them.

Running is the only sport the DD2 is interested in. She doesn't want to do any winter sports and wants to do track in the spring. Running is a great sport that you can do forever (as long as your knees hold up). I'm ok with them not being very sportsy, especially softball. That is one sport that if they showed interest in I'd discourage because it takes up all of your summer. I don't think any of them will show any interest. DD2 also enjoys art but where we live she doesn't have any art opportunities except in school.

We got a "new" piano on Friday. We bought it at the end of August but had been waiting for it to be delivered. It's from 1903 and has been completely restored. All the guts are new except for the soundboard (which would add an extra $10,000 to the cost of the restoration). It fits perfectly in our living room since our decor is antiques. I have my great-great uncle's furniture in there from the late 1800's. He received it as a wedding gift in 1893 and it was used when they got it. Last year when our piano tuner was here DH talked to him about finding an antique upright piano for us. When he came this year he had pics of this one for us and we fell in love with it. It was in an outbuilding on a farm and the lady who owned it felt bad getting rid of it and wanted to save it.

We also finally got our bed. Now our new bedroom set is complete...six months later.

Mari...good luck today at your doc appt! Update us when you get a chance.

I love it! I think it looks awesome!

Well the appt didn't go at all as I expected. Baby is doing great! Moving around like crazy! Of course I got the dreaded bloodwork done and NT done today, hoping that all went well. The bad news is , my cervix is already short. It's at a 2.8, and so the cerclage will be put in on Friday morning. My last day of work is tomorrow and 2 weeks after cerclage I must be on bed rest, and then after that I can start moving around.

Our goal right now is 28 weeks, then 32 weeks. I'm terrified. I'm trying to keep it together and just take it one day at a time. UGH this just sucks!

Mari...I'm sorry you didn't get the news you were hoping for at the high risk doc. But you are being monitered closely and the docs are intervening to prevent complications. With them knowing an early delivery is possible they can prepare you and your baby for it and make sure the lungs are as mature as possible and things like that. I guess you didn't have to ask the doc if you needed to stop working now, he kind of answered it for you. Glad baby is doing great!!

We have snow on the ground this morning!!! I'm sure it will be gone by noon.

Mari I am so sorry you did not get the new you were hoping for. I agree with what Meg said, the doctors are monitoring you and that is good news. I poke with the neonatalogist weeks before Robbie was born. They were such a great help in reassuring me about the things that they could do with micro-preemies and with preemies in general. I hope it does not come to that and bed rest sucks but you need to take things a day at a time. I am praying that all will go well and your will deliver a full-term, healthy baby.

Great to hear that your baby is doing well.
