The picture was taken at the independent living facility so the tree isn't ours. If you're like me you don't want to say too much to DH or go back cleaning up after him because then he probably wouldn't do it at all if he feels like he's not doing a good enough job. That's nice that you were able to get presents wrapped. I'm sure DS enjoyed spending time with grandma and grandpa. When is his birthday?
We had snow flurries last night. Nothing that stuck though. Just looked out the window and it's snowing now.
Tiffany - isn't it a great feeling to have all the presents bought and wrapping done? Now that I have a new job we have to decide if Sean and I are going to exchange gifts. We weren't going to but now we will see.
Meg - I am more then willing to share all our snow. I need to post a picture for you.
So, AF is in full force. Cramps are horrible. Will be picking up my prescription for BCP this afternoon. Surprisingly I am not that upset. I am a little sad but I think I knew when the cycle was cancelled that it would have been a miracle. With the new job it is better this way. I am going to work this next year on losing weight, getting off my diabetes meds and getting ready to adopt (have to wait 12 months from a major life change and changing jobs is considered a major life change). I will still hang around here. You all have been so supportive of me.
BTW, going from working dress code of casual or business casual to business dress could be very expensive for me! I actually bought some really nice stuff at the thrift store yesterday and someone gave me a 30% off coupon so for under $30 I got 3 blouses, 2 pairs of dress pants and a blazer!
Sorry AF came but I'm glad you seem to be at peace with it. I can't wait to follow your adoption journey. Glad you are planning on hanging around here because we'd miss you otherwise. When I see dressy clothes in the stores there are times where I wish I had a job where I could dress up but I'm sure it would get expensive and I'm sure I wouldn't like it for long. I like to get dressed up nice for things. Same with men's clothing. I see nice shirts and ties and wish DH wore them so I could buy them for him. Even when he worked in the clinic setting he never wore ties because of them hanging off of him and getting dirty and gross. With him just wearing hospital scrubs it's pretty easy and laundry is easy since he takes them back to the hospital to have them wash them.
The girls made donuts this morning with a donut maker one of them got from an aunt and uncle last Christmas. It really doesn't work well. The donuts are sticky and fall apart when you take them out of the maker.
Our appraisal came back on Friday from our lake house. DH went in to see about locking in a rate. He needed to lock in by 4:00pm and he sent me a txt at 3:59 saying rates were 2.62% I told him to do what he felt was best. He's holding off until he can get 2.5% or better. Friday morning rates were 2.5% so he's thinking they jumped that small amount since it was the end of the day before a weekend. It's not a huge difference and would total a couple extra grand over 15 years.
It will be interesting. I have worked in offices where it was business dress and then casual fridays but my new job is business dress all the time. I understand, it is a high end Financial Management Company. We have already decided that when we can we will be doing all our retirement investments through them - way higher rate of return... I am excited for tomorrow. I need to call at 8am and find out when I need to be there.
Robbie sees the psychiatrist tomorrow. The 2 meds we have tried have not worked so we will see what is next. Probably won't start any new med until his Christmas break. Just want the little guy to do better. We are mean parents. Earlier this year I told Robbie if he lost any more school supplies then I was NOT replacing them and he would have to use his allowance. He has gone through 11 erasers this year already!!!! Today he had to take his allowance and buy pencils, erasers and glue sticks. He has gone through 20 pencils, and 6 glue sticks! I hope this helps him take better care of his stuff!!!
Margaret - I would lose stuff all the time. I am sure I had a borderline ADD (runs in my family). I would just go without because I didn't want to disappoint my parents and they gave me such a hard time about it. So, not sure what the best tack to take with kids about this... each one responds so differently to different parenting techniques. They should have just bought supplies in bulk and not made me feel bad about it since they could afford to and I have obviously grown into a responsible adult and have ways to keep from losing stuff now. It took time to develop those skills and I don't think I made any headway on that until I was in college. If anything I needed more confidence in my abilities and that had held me back a little. I am not saying Robbie is the same, sounds like he has a lot more on his plate than that, but I wish my parents could have had a glimpse into my future. P.S. Just now I lost my phone and I cannot find it anywhere - so I have not completely grown out of it. Until I started keeping a calendar on my phone I seemed like a very disorganized person. Now every-single-appt/mtg is on my phone calendar which is sync'd with google calendars just in case I ever misplace my phone.
Good job on finding some clothes at good will. I haven't been there, but I will as I transition various sizes next year. We did go to Once Upon a Child to find some long sleeved shirts for DS.
Oh and we got 12 inches of snow between today and yesterday. Other than being quite difficult to get in and out of the drive way, we were still able to get around.
And one more thing, I hope you will post about your adoption journey.
I get where you are coming from Tiffany. We are wondering about ADD and Aspergers with Robbie. The big problem is that this is new behaviour for him. He spent $8.03 replacing stuff, I am going to make him put his name stickers on them. The one that made me mad is that he threw his glue stick in the garbage as the lid was not on his desk....it was on the floor! But it was too late for the glue stick. He refuses to put things in his pencil box and so his desk is a mess.
12" of snow is nothing! We got a dump that big in 2 hours Wednesday afternoon... What I don't like is here they do not plow properly! The leave a snow "base" on the roads. Personally I think it causes more accidents as it freezes...
Of course I will post my adoption journey. It started with making a phone call and then finding out that we have to wait 6 months to put our application in as I have just changed jobs. When I call back in they will decide if we have to wait another 6 months but as I am staying in finance 6 months will be ok. We are going foster-to-adopt. Classes and paperwork could take 3 months and then we would be good to go.
Margaret...I don't think you are a horrible parent for making DS replace his lost things with his own money. Sounds like you have done it enough with your money and this may be the way to make him learn to keep track of things. Plus, you are not horrible because our kids don't even get an allowance.
Tiffany...a friend of mine posted a pic on facebook when she was in Mpls. Looks like you did get quite a bit. Ours never amounted to anything.
We made krumkake with my mom and sisters and it was successful. We weren't quite sure how it would turn out but it was pretty easy.
I don't think she is horrible... I just think it may take a while to figure out what will really work. I think the labeling is smart.
I don't think she is horrible... I just think it may take a while to figure out what will really work. I think the labeling is smart.
I was saying she wasn't horrible since she said she was a mean parent for making DS buy school supplies with his own money.
Tonight's dinner was one of those dinner where you are still hungry after you are done eating. We bought a rotisserie chicken from the store and it was a lot smaller than we expected after we got it home. It was practicaly cornish hen size so by the time we got the girls fed there wasn't much left for us.
I did not think you were saying I was a horrible mom. I label EVERYTHING for school, we are supposed to and it makes life easier.
we had one too but there is only 3 of us
Idk if it if was a smaller one than usual or if it was the same size as always and looked smaller since the girls have all grown and are bigger eaters. We haven't had one for a long time but there was a coupon in the ad that if you bought 10 rice packets for $10 you got a free chicken. I'm thinking I'm going to have to have some cheese and crackers after the girls go to bed. Tomorrow I'm making vegetable beef soup from leftover roast.
My sister gave DH some Pinot Noir red wine vinegar and Tuscan herb EVOO for his bday. I'm excited to use it. Might be good on a salad.
Tiffany...we use our google calendars on our phone all the time. DH and mine are synced together so it's nice for me to see if he has something going on and for him to see what's planned. I put anything in it that I don't want to forget and set an alert. It also comes in handy if you have to look back and see what you were doing on a specific day. Hope you find your phone.
My phone is lost in a snow bank in front of our house. I must have dropped it when i was switching to the drivers seat so DH could push the car up into our drive way. Then he must have shoveled it away. Anyway, he and the neighbors spent quite a bit of time looking for it. I think I had insurance on the phone or I will buy a used one... no big deal. So, it is not that I was forgetful... just must have fallen out of my pocket in the craziness that was this afternoon. We can tell from GPS about where it is... but the ringer is off because I turned it off at church today.
Dh made some awesome lasagnas a month ago and froze them. Had the last one tonight.
Bummer about your phone. As least you have an idea of where it is but I guess that doesn't help much when it's in a snow bank. DH thought he misplaced his pager today. He got paged and called the hospital back, then couldn't find his pager after we both looked all over so I paged it. When it went off, we found it clipped to his pants...duh!! He usually has it more in the front of his pants and this time it was on the side way back so he couldn't feel it. It was a dumb moment for the both of us.
I've been looking at different baking recipes to see if I want to try anything different. So far I haven't found anything. I already bake quite a bit so I really don't need more things to bake. I did find these little tart sized cookies where you press a PB cup in them. I think I've had them before so I may have to try them. I think I'm going to start baking next Monday. It is finally cold enough outside that I can put everything outside in a tote to keep them fresh.
I watched the show "Trophy Wives" on TLC last night and was completly disguisted by these women. Age difference doesn't bother me at all esp. since DH is 13 years older than me. But these women live in 15000 sq. feet houses, don't work and have a maid. Why does someone who doesn't work need a maid to make them their tea and toast? They also have 150 pairs of shoes that cost $1500 each. The ladies were 27-30 and they looked a lot older than me because of all their botox and fillers and I'm 30. One ladies step-son was 5 years older than her. They were for sure they were their husband's last wife even though they were wife #4. Idk why they think they are the lucky one after 3 prior wives.
Just so you know, I spent the last 10 years living in a part of Dallas with a lot of trophy wives. They know they could easily not be the last one, hell, their husbands even mention it. They have to work to stay skinny. Once some younger, cuter thing comes along they will be tossed out with the rest. It causes a lot of anxiety and other psychiatric issues. I won't watch the show. Being someone's second wife and being someone's trophy wife are not the same thing - especially in your case, Meg. And it is not an age difference thing. Also, you could support yourself entirely if you needed to - something not true about most trophy wives. It can lead to severe power-balance issues in relationships.
Also, google latitude is so good that I know my phone is on a certain side of our driveway within a few feet of it... its driving me nuts. I wish I could send a picture. But I really cannot dig it out myself. Today is supposed to be windy and very cold. Tomorrow is my half day and should be warmer. If we only had a metal detector.
P.S. My favorite winter cookie are soft ginger cookies with double the ginger... at least double... they're highly addictive. I really need to make that nut recipe that Margaret posted. Our neighbors were so helpful. They even blew us out this morning without asking. Not to mention shoveling last night to find my phone.
We need the recipe for the cookies That is really nice of your neighbours. That sucks about your phone, maybe give DS a small shovel and $5 if he finds the phone? Wish I could send you some of the nuts, I have tons left over and with my jaw I can't actually eat them (well, I do but I pay for it).
Finally got my step-mother's phone number, now I need to give her a call.... I have not spoke with her in 4 years. She wanted me to call when I was out for the funeral...
I can see how those trophy wives can have anxiety and other issues. It was just a disturbing show.
I'll have to check out google latitude. That's pretty neat it can find it within a few feet. I have the "find my iPhone" app on my phone and that just tells you where it is in a general location. So it could be in my house, but idk which room. It would work well if you left it somewhere though. I guess at this point it doesn't matter if you find it because it's probably toast by now. That's really nice of your neighbors to blow out your drive. One of our neighbors did our's once when we were on vacation. We were dreading having to park at the end of the drive to tromp through the snow and we pulled up and it was cleaned out so that was a nice surprise. Do you have a snow blower? I should probably figure out how to run ours just in case I need to do it for some reason.
I make a ginger molasses type of cookie. They are pretty yummy. I need to look for the raw almonds when I'm shopping in Des Moines on Wednesday. I've looked around here and can't find them. I really want to make those almonds because they sound so yummy and easy.
I called my step-mother this morning and then I had to text my sister to see if h*&& froze over! She apologized for being a rotten step-mother to me. I am still in shock. This is the woman who when she told me she was going to Heaven I said I would rather go anywhere else then. She is part of my huge self esteem issues. My dad apologized to me just before he died, wonder if the end is close for her. I had not seen or talked to her in 4 years! I accepted the apology but I am shocked by it.
Margaret...I'm glad you were able to talk to your step-mother. It sounds like you have a lot to forgive her for. It's too bad that death and dying has to make someone realize how important someone/something is. That had to have been a tough call to make.
I had violin lessons today. We are taking the next 3 weeks off of piano and violin for the holidays. I was going to ask to not have lessons next week anyways so it works well.
I had a little panic moment the other night when looking at our Disney Cruise reservations. I had been trying to go onto their website to look at our reservation and it always says there's an error. It's done it for quite a while each time I check. I got to thinking that maybe we got scammed by the travel agent and she took our money and ran with it. Stupid me was using a confirmation number that we got from Disney when we had a couple rooms reserved. Not the one the travel agent gave us. Enter those numbers and lo and behold it showed up. So we are good to go for our cruise in May. In March we can start booking port excursions. I think we are going to do a tour of the Mayan Ruins and Cozumel highlights when we are in Cozumel. That includes a tour of a tequila place and samples. For the kids they do a pinata breaking so it will be fun for them. Another one we want to do is where you put these air bubble type things over your head and swim around the ocean so you can look at stuff. We thought about parasailing but it would be too hard since we have an odd number and DH and I would have to go with the two youngest, which would mean DD1 would have to go with a stranger. When I parasailed we sat side by side. The way this is set up you sit front to back and I don't want some stranger straddling DD. And she may not even want to go, but then where does she go when we are doing it. So that's something we should do when we are in Florida sometime or something. It's obviously too expensive to book excursions at every ports so we are only doing a couple. We set up a phone call from Mickey on Christmas morning so that is how they'll find out. After Christmas we'll have to get their passports.
Definitely do something under the water in Cozumel. There are some great reefs (or there were); I know one of the hurricanes was an issue there. Another option for your group would be a discover scuba course. Surely there is one being offered through the cruise... if not they are easy to book on your own. I think youngest DD will just be old enough for this, but I may be wrong. Regardless they would let her come along as a snorkeler. Remind me later where else you are going... I am no Caribbean expert (but one day I will be).
Go to cruisecritic.com. Sign up for your cruise group. Chat with other people going on the cruise. It is so fun to know people already when you are aboard. Also look at the family cruising forums and the forums for each place you are going.
Margaret - glad your step mother called... it was the right thing to do. And it sounds like you handled it gracefully.
P.S. Long story short my husband was able to rescue my phone.
That's for the tips Tiffany. I'm headed to check out cruisecritic.com. That will be really interesting and helpful. I'm not much of a swimmer/water person so the little bubble head swimming thing is kind of pushing it for me. I don't know how to swim. I'll look into the scuba course though. We port at Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay (Disney's Island). We'll be gone for 7 days.
Glad you found your phone. Was it salvagable?
Oh yea... if you don't swim, don't scuba. The other option sounds very cool. You are going to have so much fun. I have to use half of my vacation with maternity leave so I am not sure yet what to do with the other half - 10 days to use between maternity leave and September. I know I will be doing something with my parents for at least part of that.
And yes, my husband surprised me by calling my office phone from my cell phone to let me know it was found and working. Time to back up my contacts.
I'm sure the kids and DH would love it though since they are always under water with goggles at the lake looking for rocks and shells.
I went to cruisecritic and there isn't a forum yet for our cruise. I guess I could create it but since I'm new to the site, I don't really feel comfortable doing so, so I'll just wait for someone else to. It will be interesting to look around though and probably get some questions answered. Another forum to get addicted to
I'm shocked your phone still works after being out in the snow and cold for so long. You have an iPhone right? If so, good to know they are tough.
I have been on Disney Cruise forums all night! I read a couple of ppl's experiences with pics which was really fun. One person had been on 20 Disney cruises and said the Fantasy was by far the best. I also found disboards.com and found my cruise group. I think I'm going to join in on participing in "fish extenders." I had no clue what they were. You get a hanger/bag thing to hang on your fish outside your door and ppl in your group put stuff in there and you go around and put stuff in other's. It's a fun way to meet ppl and have a little fun. Now I'm trying to find inexpensive but cute things to put in there. Also things that don't weigh a lot. You only have to do it once a trip. It looks like it's going to get split up into 20 cabins per group. Some ppl give a gift for each person in the room and others do for each cabin. I thought of getting glow sticks from the $ Tree and having them be "Mickey's Magic Wand." Let me know if any of you have ideas.
I found stalking the boards that left a week or so before mine left to be very helpful. Possibly with disboards cruisecritic is not as active, though I have noticed a few of them had lots of activity. On royal caribbean and celebrity, the ship held official cruise critic parties which was cool. The destination forums were also cool.
It was interesting looking through cruisecritic and possibly as it gets closer there will be a board for the cruise we are going on. I'm going to keep checking it out.
I'm going to call the dentist at 7:30 when it opens. My tooth didn't bother me much over the weekend or yesterday so I was just thinking it was a sensitivity issue so I didn't call. Last night it hurt so bad. Of course, it hurts when I can't call and make an appt. I absolutely hate going to the dentist. I would much rather go through all of the u/s, shots, etc of IVF. I feel like the whole left side of me is falling apart. My shoulder has been hurting for the last few weeks and it's been getting worse. I had DH check it out and he says I have a rotator cuff strain. I hate to know what it feels like when there is a tear. I went to yoga yesterday thinking the stretching and movement would be good for it but I couldn't do any planks or put any wt on that arm. I have no clue how I could've strained it... possibly doing push-ups? Sorry for whining.
Hope you get some relief with that tooth. I don't like going to the dentist, but I don't dread it. I have found some decent ones over the years.
I got an appt to see the dentist on Thursday morning. They had an opening tomorrow but I'm going to be out of town. It hasn't bothered me all day but I guess it's better to get it checked out to see what's going on and if there is a problem better to get it fixed now before it gets too bad. Dental bills also scare me because we don't have dental insurance. DH had me go see a physical therapist for my shoulder to get his opinion and show me some stretching exercises. He feels it's a rotator cuff strain and showed me some exercises to do. He told me lay off the yoga for 4-6 weeks which I really don't want to do. I might take a little break over the holidays, then go back and not do the intense plank/sun salutation stuff where there is a lot of wt on my shoulder. The pain was so bad this morning I was nauseous and couldn't even drive with that arm.
Tomorrow I go shopping with my mom and sisters. I have a list of things I need to look for. It should be a fun day!
I should have raw almonds by the end of the day. When my violin teacher was leaving last night I mentioned I needed to find raw almonds for a recipe. She said she had lots of them so she is dropping them off. She's the type of person that has anything you might need.
So, after the good news of signing my new job paperwork Sean was fired from his job. They are restructuring and so he is gone.... can we ever get ahead?
I hope he finds something better. Thank god you found something when you did. Sorry you guys are going through so much!
I am trying to stay positive but it is so hard. I was looking forward to driving in to work with Sean so we could talk about nothing.
Tomorrow is Robbie's Christmas concert. I will need to video it.
Should finally have an answer about my disability by friday.
Margaret...I saw on FB about your DH's job. I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you start your's today? What type of work does DH do? Hope you enjoy Robbie's program.
I spent yesterday shopping with my mom and sisters. I left home at 7am and got home at 11pm. Where we shopped is 2 hrs away. I got all of my Christmas shopping done and only bought one or two things that weren't on my list so it was a good day. I went to the dentist this morning. I was right about what I was thinking was wrong. Part of my filling came out and there is a little decay. I go back on Jan. 3 to have the old filling replaced. This filling has always bothered me because it is so rough. They put a temporary type filling on it. My shoulder is doing better. It must've been really inflammed on Monday and yoga just made it worse so made it more painful on Tuesday.
We are having another plumber come over to check out our bathroom remodel project. The plumber who we've always used hasn't gotten back to us about giving us an actual bid amount. Our contractor said he's had problems with this plumber staying at his bid price. The plumber that's coming today says he doesn't care if we buy everything on our own, whereas I'm thinking the other one wanted to buy them and I can find them online for about $2000 cheaper.
Meg - You are amazing. I definitely did not stick to my list and got DH a Roomba and a Mint to clean our floors. Of course we are not doing any renovations and our monthly rent is very reasonable. I might buy more presents for DH than for DS this year... but I am always buying stuff for DS. It is fun to spoil DH though he will definitely freak out about it... I wish I was up for shopping outside the house. I am stuck on the computer. And I miss getting out. Not that I am complaining. I am just looking forward to getting out - at some point.
Yes, I started today. It went well but I was tired at the end of the day. Sean is a mechanical engineering technician (he designs machines and heating systems), he already has 3 interviews lined up, the first is tomorrow! Tomorrow I am being taken to lunch by my boss. Yeah!
The Christmas concert was really cute. The music teacher is awesome. I cried during the Kindergarten numbers and I don't even know any of the kids! Robbie didn't like singing "I'm getting Nuttin' for Christmas", he is afraid that it is true.
I am a huge list maker and stick to it. I don't like spending tons of money so I really have to justify something if I'm going to buy it. There were a lot of cute clothes I saw though and had to refrain from buying them for the girls. I saw some cute sweaters at Old Navy and my sister needed something for the girls so she got them for them.
Tiffany...I'm sure it does kind of get old to go to work and then come home but I'm sure that's all you can do right now since you are so close to your due date. It sounds like your DH is very supportive and helpful so once those babies come maybe you can get out and do some things for yourself.
Margaret...Glad your first day went well. That's great that DH already has interviews. Yeah for lunch with the boss!
We went and saw "War Horse" live today. If anyone ever gets a chance to see it, go see it. It was amazing! It was so emotional. Throughout it all I was on the verge of tears of happiness, sadness and anxiety. The theatrics was incredible with the horses and puppetiers. Now I'm going to watch the movie soon to see how it compares.
Margaret...I have the almonds in the slow cooker. I can't wait to try them! I had to short the cinnamon a bit as I ran out. I'm going to make cherry bing bars next.
My DS turns 4 on Friday. We are having a few people over, but I cannot help myself and am putting out a couple extra invitations for some kids he plays with at school. I am not sure if any of them are crazy enough to bring their kid to a birthday party last minute at 6:30pm a few days before Christmas... but we are going to at least offer. I love giving him a real party and inviting the whole class because I like to throw parties. Needless to say somethings are getting done on a smaller scale. Regardless, we have a couple of other kids coming for sure - so it doesn't matter too much.
Meg - I bet your house smelled amazing with the almonds roasting. I still want to get to that at some point.
I need to find a way to get some presents wrapped this morning and get a few invitations put together.
Other than that, I've got my half day at work. Hopefully DH won't be too busy with his own work and we will be able to spend some of it together.
Happy early Birthday to your DS!! Hope the party goes well. That's a nice idea to invite a few of his friends. Since it's on a Friday, some parents might let their kids come.
The almonds did smell really yummy. I also made cherry bing bars and peanut butter blossom cookies. Today I'm going to make molasses cookies and snowmen and santas out of nutter butter cookies. Those look pretty cute on a cookie tray. Tomorrow I'll make peanut brittle and I'm going to try some peppermint meringues. I live in such a small town I cannot find normal peppermint candy canes. I have checked 3 stores and only have one store left to check before I've gone to all of them.
I have a few more presents of DH's left to wrap. Then I think I'm done. I need to also get my housed clean since DH's family will start arriving on Sunday. After DH is done with work on Sunday morning he has 15 days off. Except for a 12 hr shift on the 26th. He deserves the time off.
Margaret...how's the job going and DH's job hunt?
I have been off the last 2 days with the flu so work is not going. Not a great way to start a new job. Sean had his second interview today and it went well.
Just realized when I made the almonds I am not sure that I actually used raw almonds and they turned out yummy.
I see the doctor in 45 mins about this flu....
Margaret...bummer that you aren't feeling well. Is your job pretty understanding?
That's good to know that you don't think you used raw almonds when making them. I was wondering if you could just use regular ones. I think they'd be crunchier with cooked almonds which might be better and I had a hard time finding raw ones.
Margaret - Hope you feel better quickly. My sister had influenza A (was vaccinated this year) and was out for a week. She was actually pretty sick and almost needed to be admitted to the hospital. Hope your DH finds a job soon!
Meg - good luck with all the house cleaning, baking, etc.
Meg- You sound like a baking queen! I love to bake... it is so relaxing. I hope everything you made today came out well. DH and I make cutouts every year. I bake the cookies and he helps me frost. It is always so much fun. All of the cookies are already gone because we had Christmas with DH's family already last weekend. I never take cookies to my side of the family's Christmas because other people, who are really awesome bakers, bring a ton. They are all retired too so they have the time.. I never feel too bad about that
Tiffany- Happy Bday to your DS! Hope the party goes well. I love planning parties.. so much fun.
Margaret- Hope the doc was able to give you something to help relieve the flu symptoms. And hope DH job interviews continue to go well!
AFM- I'm in meetings all week for work. Those days are sometimes so boring and not informative and I would much rather be in the school building- but the meetings this week have actually been really educational. We are talking about foundational reading skills and since I was trained as a high school teacher, I never took college classes about how young children begin to read. It is so interesting and definitely is a big wake up call at how much a child's ability to read starts at home. I teach in the inner city so it's really sad because we do see lots of kids that come to us really unprepared and so much of ultimate success in school is determined so young they end up playing catch up their entire school career. Anyways, it has been a good week because my mind had been preoccupied. DH and I are still a little sad but we're keeping the communication lines open and making plans for the next couple months.
My exercise routine has stunk that last few months since I have been in the middle of 2 IVF cycles, so I'm excited to get back into running. I've decided to rain for a 1/2 marathon in May. I'm nervous but excited to have a goal to work towards. It should be interesting.
Well, the doctor has pulled me from work for the week. Sleep and lots of fluids. While he was poking me it hurt so bad, my intestines hurt so much. I probably got it at work so they are understanding.
Sean could have a job offer this week, his first interview called yesterday for references which is always a good sign.
I am so tired from baking today. I got everything done except for peanut brittle, the meringues and cut out sugar cookies. I really don't enjoy the cut outs but the girls have fun decorating them. I think we'll do those on Saturday. I try to remind them that less decorations are better because sometimes they put so much on them they don't taste good. Meg...what do you use for icing? Do you have a good recipe?
Meg...sounds like you've had an informational week so far. What do you teach again? I'm amazed at how fast our girls learned to read in school. We read to them at home but it seemed like they came home from school one day and could read. Teachers have to have a ton of patience. I really need to start running again also. Exercise is easily lost when going through IVF. Some doctors don't want you exercising either and then when you can you don't really have the energy. Good job for setting a goal for yourself! That's really the only way I can keep running. There is a "Glow Run" in April and I'm debating registering. I can only (barely) do 5Ks at this point. DH is getting me Under Armour for Christmas since I've been saying I'd run if I had warm clothes to wear. Now I have no excuses.
Margaret...hope you get to feeling better.
We are in a winter storm watch tomorrow. I don't think we are supposed to get as much snow as other areas in the state but it supposed to get really windy with zero visibility. I think that will all start tomorrow afternoon in Thursday. Maybe we finally will have a white Christmas.
Margaret - Hope you feel better quickly. My sister had influenza A (was vaccinated this year) and was out for a week. She was actually pretty sick and almost needed to be admitted to the hospital. Hope your DH finds a job soon
There's been a lot of influenza/respiratory junk around here. I've heard of a lot of ppl that were vaccinated getting it. At one time I heard that the vaccine wasn't covering the most common strain this year, then I heard that it was good at covering it. I got influenza once in my life and of course that was the year I didn't get the vaccine.
