It's official!!! We're going to Nicaragua. We booked our airline tickets tonight. I've been watching them and the priced dropped $70 per ticket. I don't think it's going to get any lower. It's like once you've bought your wedding dress...stop looking!

Yeah, you really cant worry about it. Sure, there may be people on your plane who spent less- but there will definitely be people who spent a lot more.
Work is going well so far. First patients tomorrow.

Meg - that is so awesome. How long will you be there?
Tiffany - that is exciting! Hope everything goes well with your first patients.
My week has been crazy busy with back to school stuff and is not being helped by migraines and my tmj being very painful. I put in a call to find out how my disability stuff was going...no answers yet. Really need a paycheque as I have been off work since March 15th. I am looking for another job, would really like to stay with the federal government but as they did a bunch of layoffs at the beginning of summer I don't see that happening.

We will be in Nicaragua for 8 days.
I had the worst headache this morning. I'm sure it was a migrane. I went to bed with it and usually I can sleep it off but it woke me up in the night a few times and it was worse this morning when I woke up. It felt like my right eye was going to pop out of my head. I ended up taking 4 ibuprofen and a Percocet I had left from one of my IVF ERs. I napped with a hot pack on my eye and it's 99% better. I think it's hormone related. I'm taking a break from my BCPs and I noticed the last time I took a break I had a bad migrane. I might have to learn to deal with it once every 50-60 days but it's nice to have my cycles that long and decide when I want to get a period.
Margaret...sorry you've been dealing with migranes and TMJ. What kind of work did you do?

I work for the CRA (Canadian version of IRS) in the Business call centre. Talking on the phone 7.5 hr/day is causing the tmj to be severe. Didn't even know I had tmj until I was on the phones, it had been 5 years since I worked in a call centre.
The last time I was taking BCP I was taking 3 packs at a time so 4 periods in a year. And sorry that you are dealing with headaches too. I am having a day in bed.
DH just picked up his paperwork for his SA. It is a slow day in the office.
Sorry for the headaches! Hope that you both get to feeling better soon. Not much here. It's supposed to be cooler (well, less hot) beginning of next week. I can't wait. These 90+ degree days are not fun - especially with the occasional hot flash or two.

We've been having really hot weather also and finally have a cool down. Still in the 80's though. My headache is 99% gone. I'm sure all the painting and paint fumes in my house isn't helping. I took a break from the fumes this morning and painted this afternoon. I think one more coat and we'll be done. DH and I are feeling really lazy so we are ordering in pizza for dinner.

Tiffany...how is the new job going?
I've been working outside since it's so nice. I'm mowing even though we really have no grass. I'm picking up all the dead crap and leaves so at least I'm doing something. Taking a break right now as the mower's out of gas and I'm too lazy at the moment to put more in it. Tomorrow I have a 5K for my church Sunday School kick off. I have a feeling I'll be doing more walking than running. I haven't run in over a week. With painting the room I haven't really been good about exercising this week. I figure mowing is good exercise though. Need to put one more coat of paint on the room. I swear it's neverending.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

I love my new job. Starting in the hospital next week. I'm glad to be salaried and not starting off too busy. The downtime is really helpful. Getting to know and learn how to work with my nurse. They are making me interview some external candidates, but I think that even though mine is very young she is a quick learner. I was hoping for someone more experienced - but I think it will be ok.
On a side note, I have been having some bad left sided pleuritic chest pain. They are not sure what it is - maybe pericarditis and maybe a peripheral PE. My vitals are good and we decided not to do a vq or ct for now because we are trying to avoid radiation and there was no evidence of clot burden in my legs. It's a risky thing to do, but I really think it is pericarditis. Oh and I can't take any NSAIDs. And since my EKG doesn't show it, didn't start steroids. So I am hurting a lot. Especially at night with trying to lie down. Tylenol is pretty useless but combined with Benadryl, I get some rest.
Other than that, I am fine.

Tiffany...glad you like your job. Sometimes having a younger/new nurse is a good thing. You can mold her and train her to what you want. Experienced nurses sometimes can be stubborn and resistant to change (and overly confident). Sorry to hear about your chest pain. I'm sure it's a bit scary not knowing exactly what it is but I can understand not wanting to be exposed to any radiation. How is your d-dimer? I'm sure it's hard to get comfortable when you are unable to use a lot of the things used. Thanks for the update!
