I don't blame you at all for not going to the wedding. There are many obvious reasons you couldn't and shouldn't go. You had sent your regrets, a gift and are inviting them for dinner. It's not like you forgot about them. Hope you were able to get some sleep and are enjoying time with your dad and brother.

The middle school band got first place in the competition for their division. The high school marching band got second place. It was a very long parade. I thought it was just going to be bands but it was a full 2 hour long parade with TONS of candy. I'm tempted to weigh how much candy we brought home. I think I'm going to save it to pass out at Halloween. It's wasteful to go out and buy more candy when we have so much already.

Meg - I love your idea of reusing the candy at Halloween. I don't know what we will do with candy from that upcoming holiday. We may give it to a homeless shelter.

We used to take the candy to the nursing home when DH's great aunt and uncle were there. We'd keep a basket filled in their room for the staff to eat. It was a good way to get rid of it. Children mentioned...our girls are candy hoarders. They don't eat it. I'd find bags of candy in their room if I didn't make sure I had gotten it out sooner. They share a fun size candy bar. I guess I shouldn't complain about them not eating it. I have a weakness for parade candy though. I love all the frootie tootsie rolls and laffy taffys. That's why we need to get rid of it.

What is everyone's favorite Halloween candy? I like Skittles and Reese's candy bars.

Today DH and I went for a run. We ended up running a 5K. I guess that proves that I'll be able to do it again for the Color Run in a week.

I like the mini boxes of Smarties (the real ones not what you Americans call Smarties). I like the mini Coffee Crisps as well. Trying to say far away from all candy. (child ment) Robbie's school does a candy trade in, the kids bring in their candy and they get some sort of little toy. Another good place to take the candy is a women's shelter, the kids staying there are not allowed to go trick or treating.

One year I went to a "trunk or treat" and all the candy we collected I gave out on Halloween.

I know what Smarties you are talking about. DH's boss at his old job was from Canada and she gave some of them to us. DH like the American smarties. They are his favorites. I like anything fruity and chewy. I'd rather eat Skittles over chocolate. I heard of dentists buying candy from kids. One year when I was little I got a toothbrush in my trick or treat loot. I'm sure it came from a dentist's house. Last year no one was home to hand out candy but I think I'll put out all the candy in a basket on the front step and kids can help themselves. I'm sure kids will take handfuls but I don't care as long as it's gone.

We've been busy today hanging stuff back up. DH is so sore. We took the old ceiling fan from the family room and replaced the one in our bedroom since it moved really slow. To do so he had to climb on the bed and as he was climbing up with the heavy fan he slipped and scrapped his legs all the way down the footboard. I thought it was his man parts he hurt since he landed stradling the footboard. Those things are PIA's to get up. We got it up and it works much better than the old one.

children mentioned...This is what I was busy with 3 weeks ago. We finally were able to finish it. We redid DD2's room for her 11th bday.

Child mentioned...she likes it a lot. DH and I picked everything out. We knew she'd like it since she loves pink. We figure this will last her until she's out of the house in college. She's not liking the fact that I haven't put all her stuff back on her shelves yet. It's much easier to pack stuff then unpack it.

    Margaret...how are you doing today?

I finally drug myself to yoga today. I love how I feel after yoga but it's a hard workout. I also like the sore muscles I have the next day. It's a "feel good hurt." Makes me know I did something. It seems when I do yoga by mid-day I'm exhausted for a bit. Once it gets cooler outside I'll probably do some Zumba also. I'll have to decide between yoga and Zumba on some days since classes are the same day. I like yoga much better for toning and flexibility. While it's still nice outside I'd rather run or bicycle. I made a really good chicken cordon blue recipe in the crockpot tonight. It's the first time I've ever made chicken cordon blue and it turned out well.
