Bummer!!I was really hoping for it for you.
It is frigid outside. I have to make other plans for clothes for the race. I found a white long sleeve shirt and am going to wear leggings under my shorts. The high tomorrow is supposed to be 50. I do find it easier to run when it's a little cooler though. There are 27000 ppl registered for the race. There are two waves of it. That's a lot of ppl!!
I won't be on over the weekend so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sorry to hear that. Hope you find the perfect job for you soon.
We are friends with a couple that lives down the street, but it is going to take us some time to find friends also. The couple that lives down the street are university professors and they are super-nice. I think it is even harder when you are not working. I love the people, both nurses and doctors, that I have met so far in my clinic. I hope to get to meet some of the "hospital" people - which is why I still work over there as well. Normally, I would be taking pottery classes - but can't right now.
I think it would be hard to be good friends with someone who has young children if the infertility wounds are fresh. I am sure that even if they weren't, they would be opened up a little, but I also think having friends is really important. Since you have expertise with older kids, it is a friendship that could certainly grow with time. Plus, as long as it didn't kill you - it can be hard for someone with young children to make friends due to difficulties just getting out of the house. Anyway, it also might be a future babysitting opportunity for one of the girls. Anyway, even if you reach out - she might not respond... but having neighbors for friends is ideal. I am still not sure if I could do it in your shoes. Seeing frazzled parents with young kids - especially babies - actually helped me deal with infertility (I know, evil to say).
Anyway, I treat making friends like I do any task I do, because I am an extrovert and it is really important for me. Also, I hate to be shut in and there is nothing to do around here compared to Dallas. What is funny is that I am definitely the one in the relationship to help with the social calendar, but with starting the new practice - some of that has to be left to my husband who is an introvert. I know these are not real problems. I am blessed that these are the things that bother me right now.
We had a blast at the Color Run other than it being freezing. It was about 45 degrees, overcast and very windy. My feet were completely numb by the time we started running. There was 27000 ppl registered for the race. It's the biggest Color Run in history. It was so big that they had to have a 1pm and a 4pm race. We were in the 1pm race. Every 2-3 minutes, they'd let a wave of 1000 ppl start. We got lined up in the starting line around 12:00 and were in the 2nd wave. There was about 1500 ppl in front of us and about 11000 behind us. When we finished the race the starting line was still huge. I know of some ppl who had to wait over an hour to start after the race officially started. We stuck around for the Color Party afterwards for a bit. They had a DJ and all the runners gathered and danced. Then every 15 minutes they'd have a color explosion where you'd throw packs of color. There was so much color thrown it would go dark and you couldn't see anyone in the crowd. DH and I ran the whole thing. It really didn't feel like a 5K. I wasn't even tired when I was done. It was kind of cruel because we started going down a big hill, then had to finish going up it. If a Color Run ever comes to you area, I strongly encourage you to do it. We saw Les Miserables today and it was an amazing show. I'm always amazed at the talent the performers had. We had a very fun weekend!!

Meg- i loved doing the color run, it was by far the most fun 5K i have done yet.... i am looking forward to doing it next year too.....
*preg/baby mentioned*
well....tomorrow i have my appt with the endocronoligst, to find out what we're doing with my thyroid.....i had to have it byopsied when i was 30 wks preg to rule out cancer....not cool. and we've just kept an eye on it while i've been nursing. We're down to just one feeding (the one right before bed), so i think i'm going to have to get another ultrasound on it and then figure out if it's staying til i'm done with trying for kids, or take it out...... so, depending on how that goes, DH and i will get our blood work done and i'll get my tests done so that come Dec, i can start bcp and do a cycle in Jan. I'm sooooo nervous. I"m soo scared it might not work the 1st time again...and we're going to be going through so much of our savings.....i know it will be worth it, but i'm just....i hate that we all have to do this to try to get pregnant...the needles, the horrid 2ww....argh. And of course, i know 9 people right now how just had a baby or are expecting....4 of my friends just had babies in the last month and the rest are expecting in march/april. I remember when we were gearing up for the 1st IVF, and i knew 14 ppl who were expecting!!! insane, right? fingers crossed that all is well on the thyroid front....
I hope you all are going to have a wonderful week.
Meg - I love, love your pics of the Color Run. DH really needs to do that. I think it is a great culmination of all the training you have been doing. Maybe if I ever start running, that would be my goal too- but I really end up with a lot of pain whenever I try to get into running.
My 11 day stretch of working starts today and I am nervous but excited to get it over with.
***preg/baby ment***
I think TTC was much, much easier when we already had success once. Now, of course, it did get old... and it still took us 2 years... but the jealousy was better. Plus we were busier (i.e. more distracted). Maybe it won't be for you - but for us it was a whole new ballgame and a hell of a lot less emotional than the first time. Good luck with your next endocrine appt.
Tiffany
Julie...I'm sure that was quite the scare and still is. Good luck with your next cycle. I'm sure it seems much scarier since you've already been through the emotions of IVF. Thanks for updating us and keep us updated!
Tiffany...you should really try the Color Run. Do it as a family. You don't have to run it. There are many, many ppl that walk it. There's one coming to St. Paul next July. It's a great way to encourage a healthy lifestyle because I'm sure there were many ppl there that would've never gotten out to walk otherwise. I have another 5K next Saturday for our hospital. The focus is on heart disease and the "Red Dress." I found a red dress to wear for it at Goodwill. Good luck with your long working stretch. After today, one day down, ten to go.

Julie - the thyroid issues sound scary. Hugs. Good luck with January.
Meg - I have never heard of a colour run but it certainly looked fun. Most of my family back East runs, their last run was a Duracell night run - the pictures looked awesome.
(child ment) Today is Thanksgiving. Robbie figured our turkey dinner yesterday does not count as it was not of the official day. We have had a busy long weekend with swimming, cleaning the backyard before more snow falls, and today we are supposed to go to the Science Centre but I am so wiped I might just send Sean and Robbie.
Thursday is the big day for my hsg, excited to find out the results, pretty sure my tubes are clear.
Happy Thanksgiving!! I think any turkey dinner around Thanksgiving counts as your dinner. Lots to times families can't get together and do them on other days and it works. Sounds like you had a productive weekend. We need to finish getting our yard ready for snow. Our plants are officially dead now from the cold of the weekend. I need to cut them off and put pumpkins or something in my big pots.
How does a night run work? I've never heard of those. Now that I've actually run 3 whole 5K's it motivates me to do more. Part of the reason for not wanting to do some was the huge crowds but I think if I did this one I can do any. I'm not much for crowds. There are few throughout the summer where we have our lakehouse that I could do.
Good luck Thursday!!!
Tiffany...how did your DH's run go?
