After going to the mailbox twice and getting frustrated there was no mail I remembered it was Columbus Day. I had remembered earlier in the morning but obviously forgot.

I have Shepard's Pie in the crockpot for dinner tonight and it's smelling yummy. I think I'm going to make a ham sometime this week and have scalloped potatoes and ham on another night. I always like to have an idea of what I'm going to make the rest of the week on Monday. Makes it a little easier.

There are few throughout the summer where we have our lakehouse that I could do.
I know that they put reflective tape on their shirts and shorts and use head lamps when running. I think there is 5K and 10K lengths. I know my sisters have done the night run at least twice.

DH had a really good run... much better than he expected. I think he runs better in the cold than the heat of Texas.

Shephard's Pie sounds amazing. You have to post that recipe. Tonight was a chipotle at the park night because I was so exhausted after work and DS insisted on going to the park and I was too tired to say no. Besides, how do you say no to the kid who wants to get out and exercise when you have been counseling patients all day to do the same thing.

I run much better when it's cooler. Our first 5K was last year in FL. It was about 98 degrees and 100% humidity when it started at 6:30 am. It was so hot. We were dripping wet with humidity when we got done. Children mentioned...I was actually really worried that DD1 was going to pass out. She'd had a couple passing out episodes and we'd seen a cardiologist and at that time she had to drink about 2L of gatorade a day. At least if she passed out we would've been surrounded by doctors since the 5K was for the AAFP Scientific Assembly. It seems when it's hot all I think about is how hot and miserable I am.

My mom gave me an awesome Crock Pot Busy Family Recipes cookbook she got a Kohl's. I do crockpot every Monday and soup every Thursday. So far I've made about 4 crockpot recipes out of the cookbook and they have all been good. There's about 250 pages of recipes. I ended up taking some Shepherd's Pie to DH at the hospital because we was really looking forward it, then had to leave to go to the ER.

    Shepherd's Pie
    1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb ground lamb (I used ground pork)
    chopped onion
    2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 can (about 14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained (I just realized I didn't drain mine and it turned out fine)
1 package (12 oz) frozen peas and carrots (mine was 16 oz)
    3 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
    2 tsp dried oregano
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    mashed potatoes

Cook ground meat, garlic and onion in large skillet, drain fat. Transfer to slow cooker. Stir in tomatoes, peas and carrots, tapioca, oregano, salt and pepper. Cover; cook on low 7-8 hrs. Top with mashed potatoes. Cover; cook on low until potatoes are heated through, or until ready to eat.

Hope everyone is doing ok. It's been kind of quiet lately.

I just almost did the most horrifyingly embarassing thing ever. I was trying to upload some run pics I had just gotten onto Facebook. I have some pics that DH took of me after my breast aug surgery in a sport's bra so I'd have some before/after pics. I was searching for the Color Run pics and accidently clicked on one of those pics and it started uploading. I was in sheer panic looking for the cancel button. I finally found it and canceled it but was still afraid there'd be a pic of me in my sport's bra all over Facebook. Once I did find the pics I wanted to upload I realized there was another step to upload so it wouldn't have been as bad as I thought it could've been.

hope everyone is doing well -- yeah for being wednesday - half way through the week....
Oh no - Meg that could have been embarassing - i always feel that as soon as i upload a pic on facebook, i haven't even had it up for a second and someone has seen it already.... glad you were able to cancel it.
Thanks for posting the crock pot recipe - i will plan on making it tomorrow.
Nothing new on my end - bldwrk for my thryoid came back normal, once again, so we're all cleared to move forward. I have to get some bloodwork done and an ultrasound on CD 3 and DH has to get bldwrk done too...and then we can start....ah, i'm so nervous for some crazy reason....

Julie...glad your bloodwork came back normal and you're cleared to go. I don't think it's crazy to be nervous again. You know all the emotions of it so you know what to expect but it's still nervewracking.

I have scalloped potatoes and ham in the crockpot right now. My Hatian wall hangings finally came! I was so excited to see the FedEx man. I'll have to take pics of my finished family room now. DH and I went out for a 2.75 mile run this morning. It was a chilly 36 degrees but I warmed up fast.

I am around but seem to been hit with some bug...shaking, chills, headache, nausea.. not fun. I better feel better for tomorrow. It is going to suck taking the bus to the hospital where the hsg will be done. I am supposed to ask for a prescription for 5mg of folic acid as well when I see my RE.

(child ment) Robbie had his testing done yesterday at school. He tested "superior" in all academic stuff but low social skills. He will meet with the reading specialist soon (no problems there he is 7 and reading chapter books) and then I will meet with everyone to be debriefed. All this so he can be tested for gross/fine motor delays! Oh well, it is all paid for. Both Sean and I tested in the gifted range so not really surprised that Robbie is taking after us. The psychologist wondered if Robbie's lack of friends has to do with him talking over them, he really needs an adult to engage him on his level. He has his first real counselling session tomorrow...Sean is taking him as I can not get back across the city and then get Robbie to his appointment in time.

Julie - that is great that you got the go ahead. I just had the cd3 blood work done last week.

Back to bed for me. I have a meeting tonight and don't want to miss it.

Margaret...sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope you feel better tomorrow for your HSG. Child mentioned...Glad your son tested well. That's always a relief. Why is he meeting with a reading specialist if he is reading so well? All 3 of my DD's test very high with their school standardized testing also. DD1 is in the Talented and Gifted Program at the middle school. She's one of those that is really smart, but completely lacks common sense. I hate to say that and it sounds mean of me but it's the truth. DD2 is very smart for her age/grade and I don't think she gets credit for it by her grandparents since they give DD1 so much attention. It really bothers me. She's really young for her grade so does very despite of that.
