Well I did get to the appointment but but barely.... I gave myself an extra 45 mins to get to the appointment today and was still 5 mins late trying to get around downed trees, traffic jams and traffic lights being out.. Only to arrive to find out the doctors office had no power. Well they were taking the IVF'ers to do bloodwork and U/S on the generator power.
So here is the crazy part... I sat in a dark doctors office for an HOUR waiting to be seen in the dark and have blood work drawn in a room not very well lit. You could barely see the other people it was so dark.
Sooo my question to everyone is what are the crazy things you have done to get the allusive BFP???
During my last IVF round for DS we went to a wedding and was in a full ballgown. We went out to the car so I could do my lupron shot and had my dress pulled up out in the parking lot so DH could give me my shot. It was so lady like and I couldn't stop laughing the whole time....
I can't really think of any crazy thing I did during my cycles. During my last cycle I drove 6 1/2 -7 hrs every other day for monitoring appt's. That's about the craziest. My RE was 3 1/2 hrs away (one way) and we figured it be cheaper to drive than to stay in a hotel for a week. My RE was great, even though the cycle failed, so I wouldn't change a thing.
ETA: Glad you made it to your appt. How were they able to run the blood tests and do u/s with no electricity?
IVF #1-cancelled d/t embryos arresting before transfer (3/09)
IVF #2-BFP 9wks-7/30/09 (6/09)
IVF #3-BFN (5/10)
OMG - so many things to list here. In general, it was probably all the crazy places I've had to give myself shots and then, finding places to do bloodwork and u/s. I travel for my job, so the dirty airplane bathrooms were always a challenge. I was in Cleveland for a wedding during a cycle and had to find a lab to do the bloodwork. We drove around for over an hour - lost in Cleveland, with the GPS saying "Recalculating..., Recalculating..." over and over while we looked for the stupid lab. UGH.
I dropped my pants in the waiting from when dealing with OHSS pain. I was so desperate to have my u/s right then and be rushed to surgery to drain the fluid that I held the nurses arm so she couldn't leave, dropped my drawers and walked into the room and got on the table. My mom and DH were like "you are in the waiting room, people can see you, OMG" and I just said "I don't' care, I need them to help me now before I die!" They could have rolled me around town butt naked and I wouldn't have cared - as long as the relieved my pain. LOL
Also - DH and I kept our second FET a secret after my m/c the month before - so we were always sneaking around to do shots. Once at dinner after DH's grandad's wake/viewing, we snuck out of Chili's, into the backseat of my car and I dropped my pants to get the PIO shot. When we got out of the car people in the parking lot where giving us looks like they "knew" what we just did. Ha - little did they know that poke was from a needle
As I'm sure many of you do as well, I have plenty of not so fun things that we have done on this crazy journey. But since my DH and I try to keep a sense of humor about the whole thing, I'll share some of the funnier things that have happened. We are big college football fans (Go Heels!) and try to attend most of the home games. Last fall I was doing a round of injectables and had to bring them with me in a cooler to take after the game. I'm sure it was quite a sight for the other tailgaters in the parking lot! We have also been known to keep our medicines in the breadbox in the kitchen. I have to warn any overnight company that the bagels are in the pantry instead. Big hugs to everyone here. I like to think that this is only preparing me for the countless sacrfices I'll have to make WHEN I become a mom.

I have done my injects in friends washrooms, restaurant washrooms, hotels, campground washroom, and the most memorable was at a Carrie Underwood concert! The most awkward would have to be progesterone while camping with my Sparks (the youngest group in Girl Guiding here, same as Girl Scouts in the US). I've had to get creative to do monitoring around my work too. I agree, the things we will (and often times have to) do to get that BFP!
All the best Mandie! I remember you from ttc your son.
