    Default Donor Embryos

I had a follow-up with my RE yesterday regarding my premature ovarian failure diagnosis back in March. I'm still not having any signs of menopause, so therefore still don't need to start any HRT. Oddly enough, I've actually been getting cycles on my own after being annovulatory for quiet some time (thus causing my original fertility issues). My dr brought up donor embryos again (with my husbands balanced translocation of two of his chromosomes we felt it best to bypass all of our fertility obstacles). I asked him some questions about it and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't financially out of our reach like dh and I had assumed it would be. Dh and I are considering this as an option, haven't made an official decision, but we're thinking about it right now. It has given me some renewed hope! Now, the tricky part is finding donated embryos. The head nurse is keeping her ears open for anything from our clinic but she advised me to do a search myself. I've been doing online searches and having a really hard time finding Canadian sites. Does anyone here know of any? And has anyone gone with donor embyros or know of someone who has? And if so, what was that experience like? I'm very interested in learning more.

I have no experience with donor embryos but have followed a couple ladies on here through their journey. There are two ladies that used donor embryos that are pregnant right now. Maybe they'll speak up about their experience. Good luck and keep us posted!!

I didn't use a donor embryo, but a donor egg. At one point, I asked about donor embryos, and was told that our clinic doesn't do them. I'm really not sure how you go about finding a donor embryo? So, I'm not much help...

But I hope that you are able to get the information you need and have a baby in your arms before too long! Keep us posted on your progress!

Hey Jodi! Look at the website miracleswaiting.org as a recipient you can post an ad for I think around $150 and it stays up. Also check out this blog http://3babes2jens1cause-embryoadoption.blogspot.com/ they are a great resource and if you email them they probably have some great info for you.

If you have questions feel free to PM me.

At the last infertility support group I went to they said IVF.CA has a new section that is going to help people meet donors and vice versa. I havn't searched the site but its a great place for Canadians to go to.

Thank you Kebrina! I will check out those websites!

Thank you Deborah! I used to be a member on that board back when I was doing IVF ('08/'09) but haven't been on there in ages! Didn't even know they have a new forum for donors. I will go and check it out.

    Thumbs up

Jodi We just did a cycle using donor embryos's and I am pregnant right now we were put on a list through our clinic and then out of the blue we got a call they had some embryo's for us it has been a great expierence so far it seems like it went so fast and we go for our first ultrasound tomarrow. My Dh and I had tried everything to have a baby before this and we are very happy we took the chance and did donor embryo's. Lots of luck finding your baby or babies.

Huge Congratulations!! I'm curious how long you were on the wait list before you got the call? The head nurse at our clinic sat with me and chatted for quiet a bit that day. She got all teary and said that there are angels everywhere and that those letters go out every day letting couples know when the renewal is up for another year of embryo storage. I never thought I'd ever be considering this. Dh is still absorbing the possibility. He usually takes longer than me to process things. All the best at your u/s tomorrow!!
