First consultation appts

So, we are back from our crazy fast trip to the city and back (about 1600 km). What a ton of information to take in! It went really great though and we have made the decision to do IVF and are on the wait list.

DH's test was good, so the issue isn't there which has been the same for the rest of our testing and treatments. I have diminished ovarian reserve. During my u/s they also found a small cyst on my left ovary but he isn't concerned. They will watch it of course, but he doesn't anticipate that it will be an issue. He also found that my cervical length is 4cm which is longer than average and my uterine depth is also longer than average. This is important obviously for them to know how far to put the catheter in. He said this could have potentially played a part in why the last 2 IUIs didn't work (if the nurse didn't put catheter in deep enough).

He is going to put me on the flare cycle - so I will call in my next period, then the following cycle, I will start BCP for 21 days, then start injections. I am nervous and excited. DH and I are both slightly relieved and stressed less now that a decision has been made. Bear with my while I learn the terms and drugs. Potentially we are looking at egg retrieval in June. The nurses, Dr, etc were amazing and I feel very comfortable with asking questions and being me with them.

I am overwhelmed and emotional as is expected after such a crazy week.

Thanks for reading my book. Hope everyone has a great week!

I'm glad that the appt went well and that you have a plan! It's been said many times here but bears repeating, time will speed up for you once you start your injections. Smile June will be here before you know it!

Glad your RE was able to figure out you have DOR before your cycle. That gives him a way to adjust your meds and figure out a different protocol accordingly. My RE didn't figure out I had DOR with my first 2 cycles. He did absolutely no testing on me to check for IF. He went straight to my DH since he has an antisperm antibody. So I felt like we wasted 2 cycles. When we asked him about DOR his response was "yep, it obviously looks that way." Needless to say, we got a new RE for the 3rd cycle. I'm glad they found out that info about your cervix and uterus also.

Feel free to ask us any questions or vent here.

Thank you both so much!!! I am still taking it all in right now. Waiting (im)patiently for AF to show up lol.

Have had to change a few things that were planned for the next few months but that's ok. I've come to terms with that. Just trying to lose some more weight and get as healthy as I can before we start.

Glad your appointment went well. The wait will be over before you know it. And by that time you'll be a pro with names of the meds. I am doing a flare protocol too. Good luck and WTG with the weight loss Smile

Good luck to you too Mimi! Thanks so much for the well wishes. I feel quite lost lol not knowing the names of stuff or what to expect. But, I guess it'll all come to me once I get into the thick of it.
