    Default Frozen Embryo Transfer Questions

Hi. I'm new here. I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve and my dh has low testosterone. We have recently discovered that our "last bet" is IVF. With my low ovarian reserve we are leaning towards an egg donor or using my in-law's frozen embryos. I wanted to know if anyone has done a frozen embryo transfer and what the costs were.

I've heard it's around 3 - 5k depending on the clinic to do a frozen embryo transfer. What has been your experience?

I don't know the answer to your question, but wanted to say welcome over here and good luck! Will you have to pay out of pocket for IVF?

Welcome to the IVF board! The ladies here are so wonderful!

I haven't done a FET but when I was talking about donor embryos my RE quoted us $3,000 plus meds.

That sounds similar to what our clinic charges. I didn't really pay attention to the price of a FET because we never even had embryos survive to transfer. Seems like the cost for DE was closer to $25K when I calculated that out. I assume if you adopt embryos there will be at least a nominal charge for an attorney?

All the numbers the PP threw out there sound right. FET are much cheaper because you are just paying for meds (which are less since you don't stim) and the actual transfer. If you are using donor eggs, you'll have to pay for that and that can be pricier. Good luck. There are others on this board that have used donor eggs or donor embryos.

Welcome and good luck. We are doing an FET in less than 2 weeks but it's part of a package deal that we bought. It included 2 fresh and 2 frozen. I think if we were to pay the clinic directly, it would have been around $3-5K. Hope that helps and keep us updated!!

Welcome to the board! My clinic charges 3-5K for FET plus the cost of meds. However, we had to do infertility counseling. We discussed all of the options with the counselor, and I remember she said that if you know the donor (sperm or embryo) there would have to be another counseling session with the donors and than attorney fees. So you are probably looking at another 1.5-2K for that.
Hope that helps and keep us updated!

Welcome to the board...sorry you have to be here, hopefully your stay will be short.

We are doing a frozen donor egg cycle in Feb. I live in the Houston area. I agree that a FET is in the cost range others mentioned but doing a DE cycle is much more expensive than that. Our cycle will be 14K and that includes 6 donor eggs. If you do a fresh donor cycle it would be even more expensive.

Good luck, it is a lot to process and decide on!!
3 failed IUI's and 3 failed IVF's with OE, 2 failed frozen DE cycle... we are currently doing our "Hail Mary" fresh DE cycle!!
