Well today was Day 1 in the IVF process. After a quick meltdown I injected the Follism (sp) in my belly and survived! It actually didn't hurt at all. I had my first BW and US this morning, so gross to have an US while with AF! EWW!! I go again on Friday-then MOnday and so on. I have an arsenal of meds it's ridiculous!!! You girls deserve medals!!!! Let me tell you I left IVF class with my head spinning. This is not an easy process. At this point I think 2 embryos will be transferred, we have to sit with the RE and discuss it further but in IVF class they said they typically do 2. DH is not at all happy with it. He really wants to do just one, but I told him that I think we should go with what the RE says and then I looked at him and said that I really would not want to go thru this again...so he kinda shut up.
Wow, it's going to be a busy busy next week or 2. As I said before, my hat off to you ladies who are going thru this or already went thru it. I will KUP!
Oh and metformim is still kickin my butt. I have vomitting and diarrhea. Lost a few lbs since I started it, but I will stick with it. I can't look back now.
Yeah, all I remember thinking those first and last few visits before embryo transfer is that I will never do this again. But you just have to keep your eye on the prize. Remember that some people will do all those meds and have no embryo to transfer, so I am not trying to scare you, but don't take it for granted that you will have two and be thankful if you do.
My DH just wanted to do one, but the RE talked him into two at the last minute. Now I am scared that I am pregnant with triplets.
So... take it easy. He will likely come around in a few weeks once he sees all you have to do.
Hope you start to feel better with the metformin. A lot of people cannot tolerate that medication.
I am praying that the whole process goes beautifully for you and your DH.
And I remember that US while with AF, luckily that is as bad as it gets.
For me, at least, egg retrieval and transfer were easy and I had spent so much time in the RE's office, I actually enjoyed some of the TWW - just to be able to get back to normal life again for awhile.
I found going the IVF info session was informative, but overwhelming. I honestly really did not know what the heck I was doing or why, just blindly following instructions and hoping I don't mess up! You'll find as you go through the IVF cycle, things will be clearer - although busy.
I'm glad you did not find the injections painful, I found this part surprisingly easy and pain-free.
Yes, I'm terrified of something like that happening. I'm not sure how I can handle it. You know it really sucks to go thru all of this and then it doesn't work.

Otherwise I'd probably forget which med I had just injected. Congrats to you for injecting the Follistim. I was always worried about have a transvag. u/s while on AF also. I just reminded myself that I wasn't the first person that had AF while getting an u/s. Good luck!
It helped me to know that I was doing everything I could. And that is all you can do. You are so lucky to be able to do this as many women who have IF cannot afford to do IVF even one time. You've made it this far, and you can do it. I pray you will be successful in your journey, but I know you will need some peace in the meantime. I hope you can find it.
Marisol, congrats on getting started! How exciting! Yes, I totally give you and all the ladies mad props for being able to inject the meds yourself. All the ladies here have given you some great advice...good luck! :D
Thank you for the highlighter idea! I am definitely going to use that when i start! I have so worried about that!
