It's been a while...

Just thought I would pop in for a quick update on what's going on with us. Since October, DH and I have lost a combined 85 pounds!! (me 50, him 35). We have been focusing on eating right and maintaining good exercise habits. It's been amazing to see how far we have come in less than 6 months - also realizing that we have a little bit more to go. When we last talked w/ the RE in Oct, he told us that my condition was worsening and that all hope was pretty much lost. We were to lose weight and come back in the spring for one last final try at IVF and hope that my AMH numbers wouldn't decrease by then. Flash forward to last month - we saw him expecting to start the process soon. He was so shocked and amazed at our progress that he didn't want us to stop losing weight. He wants us to keep losing until we can't lose anymore (his words) and then try IVF. He rechecked my numbers and get this - not only did they not decrease, they almost doubled!!! I couldn't believe it. It's no guarantee, but it gives us so much more hope that I could get pregnant again (and stay that way). The plan now is to go back in late May with our procedure sometime in June. It stinks to have to wait even longer but at this point, it's been almost 5 years - what's another couple of months?
Mentally, I am in a MUCH better place. I have worked really hard at building a community of support. I'm reaching outside of my comfort zone and gaining much more self-confidence (I'm not going to lie, the weightloss has helped a great deal with my esteem as wrong as that is). I got through the due date (12/26) relatively well. Now, I'm dealing with the anniversary of the loss and the season of Easter (it's a big trigger for me but I'm working through it). I think our biggest thing is that we want to be able to look back - no matter what the outcome - and know that we did everything we could.
I think of y'all often and hope that you are doing well!!

Thanks for the update Jenni. That is so awesome that both you and DH are living a healthier lifestyle. Congrats on the weightloss! Sounds like you had a good appt despite having to wait a few months longer to cycle. I didn't know that AMH levels could increase. The wait sounds like it will be a good thing and you will be that much more healthier. I'm glad you are going out and doing more things and feel mentally better. Continue to keep us updated.

That's awesome news! I really hope you the best with the next cycle, it really does sound like you guys are trying your hardest. Before my last cycle I had lost 32lbs and I wouldn't doubt it if that made a huge difference.

Hi Jenni!
Congrats on the weight loss! And congrats on the AMH. My AMH increased after taking DHEA. You should check that out too cause every bit helps. I take 75mg DHEA daily!! Keep us posted on your progress!

I took DHEA between my 2nd and 3rd cycle. I took it without any recommendation by my RE, I just did research on it and thought I'd give it a whirl. My RE had me stop taking it before my 3rd cycle. My 3rd cycle was the cycle I had the best response to. I also had the most eggs retrieved from that cycle, although they weren't mature like my other cycles. So I do think that it had to have helped some.
