    Lightbulb IVF

    Hi everyone.

I am new to the forum.

My husband and I are considering IVF. We have an oppointment for an initial consult on the 21st.

Can anyone with first hand experience please tell me what to expect?

    Much appreciated...

At your first appt your RE will probably get a good history from you and DH. He'll probably order some testing from there to figure out the cause of your IF if you don't already know. You may have some other options aside from IVF like IUI depending on the diagnosis. Good luck with your appt. Make sure you write down your questions because nerves will get the best of you and you'll forget them once you are there.

Hope your appointment goes well and give us an update. Most couples do not go straight to IVF (though I wish we had). Good luck with the process. Also, congrats on the two babes you have already.

I agree with the notebook idea. Also whichever one of you is less easily overwhelmed, take notes. Don't be afraid to ask any questions that you may have. Good luck and keep us posted.

Totally agree with Jenni, I wish I had done that when I went through my cycle. Would have not had to make as many calls to the clinic.

At this stage...I am taking it one step at a time - now counting the days until my appointment. (wil try and post link to myy signature)

This sounds stupid - but what questions should I ask?

I know we have to do a testicular biopsy (as my husband had a vasectomy a few years ago and does not want to reverse) and then ICSI combined with IVF. I have read about the injections, a bit freaked out, but mentally I am preparing myself as I have a BIG fear of needles.

I'd ask what your options are. They might be able to do IUI if everything is ok with you and DH's SA comes back good. If you need to do IVF I'd ask about what protocol you'd be using and what timeframe they are thinking.
