We did ICSI an i am so glad we did because we only got 6 eggs (kinda low for someone my age). Only 3 made it to day 5 blasts. We do have some male factor as well. I think doing ICSI may have played in a role in this pregnancy- though I have read that the risks of malformations are higher with ICSI.
Meg- That’s crazy how they discovered ICSI! Kind of cool how things work out like that…
I was able to speak with an embryologist on the phone today and she answered the rest of our questions. I wanted to be reassured that they would transfer the highest quality embryos- even if they were from the “control” embies ie the ones from the fresh eggs. She said that was the case, but obviously they will give priority to transferring the embies from the frozen eggs for the study purposes- but if they are high grade then that doesn’t bother me at all. So I think we are going to participate in the study. The financial savings paired with the fact that we will only have half the eggs frozen has me feeling good about it. Maybe this all worked out for a reason? I don’t know. I’m still a little nervous but I think it’s more from starting IVF in general- plus the fact that I’ll go back to work right as I start taking my stims (I’m a teacher so I have summers off). Thanks for much for everyone’s input- it really helps to hear different perspectives. You ladies rock!

I stimmed and worked and it turned out ok for me. It is easier to make all the doc appts and blood draws when you have time off, but where there is a will (and obviously if you are doing ivf, there is) there is a way!
