IVF Grads: PG MOMMIES - Post about your pregnancies here (#2)

Hi ladies!

Unfortunately due to the load times involved affecting members who are still on dial-up, the maximum number of posts allowed per thread has been set at 1000. This was increased from the previous 500 posts/thread limit in July. Due to this, I have locked your previous thread and have started/stickied this thread in it's place to allow you to continue.

You can still view the previous thread here.

This post is for all of you pregnant mommies to discuss your pregnancies. Please feel free to share your symptoms, aches and pains, HCG numbers, ultrasound results and pictures, belly pics, sex of your baby (if you are finding out), any names you like and have chosen, or anything else you wish to share!

After a weekend of agonizing pain I decided to call my OB yesterday. He wanted to see me strait away to check everything out.

Good news is the fetus is fine. Heart beating beautifully, growing at the appropriate rate etc. I didn't even need to have a trans-vag scan. He was concerned that the fetus may have been in a bad way, but as soon as we saw it we knew all was fine.

Bad news, ovaries are stuffed. Left one is 20cm (7.9 in) in diameter. Right one is 25cm (9.8 in) in diameter. That makes them more than 10 times the size of the fetus (each!) at the moment.

There isn't much he can do about it.

At the moment I have to keep up with the OHSS routine, keep fluids up, rest (hahahaha, yer, that's possible!), manage pain and keep a very close eye on things. Apparently it can still go from me being sore, to being in a life threatening situation pretty quickly.

I've been given some strong pain meds and am seeing him again next week. He is an amazing doctor, he has decided to bulk bill me and see my every week until I am at least 20 weeks. That's a HUGE saving. Considering it's like $100 an appt. I didn't even ask about being bulk billed.

I am struggling to walk, my sciatic nerve is impinged by my ovary. I feel like I have hot knives threaded through my pelvis. At least the fetus is fine. That's fantastic news.

Oh Tamika I am so glad you are better! It is good to hear from you. I love the names you have chosen! We can not seem to agree on names. I am afraid we will still be going back and forth in the hospital.

I am due Feb. 9th but because it is twins my doctor won't let me go past Jan. 26th, if I can carry them that long. Thanks for putting me on the list.

Hello ladies, I am so excited to finally be pregnant. After many years of trying naturally, it took IVF (1st time) to get this far. Thank God!!! I'm sure you all can relate to my excitement, when you've wanted something so bad and now you finally have it. Yet it still hasn't sunk in until recently. I was worried the 1st three month, but i'm now in the safe (safer zone)... So i'm hoping its smooth sailing from now on. My due date is April 21st.

Hi Girls, I am cautiously optimistic to be posting here with you PG mommas! I got an early BFP at just 4dp5dt (on Friday morning), I tested Friday evening, this morning and this evening. So I am feeling pretty confident I am pregnant, at least for now. This is our first (after one m/c), and we are so excited! Just want to say HI!!!

Hope you girls are all having a HH9 - look forward to getting to know you all!

That way change throughout your pregnancy unfortunately. I hated when my OB would change the date b/c I knew the exact day I conceived.

that's so odd! the whole way through with S's pregnancy, my ob kept saying 'your due date is one thing we are absolutely sure of!' Sophia was a big baby and if it hadn't have been that we knew EXACTLY when she was conceived her dates would have been moved forward and she would have been under-cooked!

Em - that was SOOO frustrating to me. I knew I was due on Nov 7th, but my RE changed it to Nov 10th and then when I went to the OB they moved me to Nov 22. How in the world they got that big of a difference I'll never know. I just kept saying "Its the 10th, I can't change it" b/c mentally I knew I would not go to the 22nd. Honestly I thought I would go before the 7th.

Beth - I added you to the grad list!!!

BTW ladies - I can't see the blinkies and stuff in post #1, so if I post your name in the wrong spot please forgive me.

Thanks! Everything feels so surreal. I just keep hoping that these cramps are a sign of my bean snuggling in. I'm so freaking paranoid and I'd like to skip this early pregnancy part.

Regardless of what any dr. says, my due date is Aug. 11th. They can put whatever they want in my chart. I'll just be happy to have a chart!

This newbie needs some reassurance that cramping is normal. I've actually got my pants unzipped because I think the pressure of my pants was making the cramping worse. It's relatively mild cramping. No blood. Quite distressing though. I'm going home to POAS (or two). Why didn't someone tell me not to Google anything bad about early pregnancy? I think I'm extra paranoid because I've never made it this far and I'm terrified of losing this pregnancy.

Beth hon, i fully understand where you are coming from.

I think some cramping is OK, those little embie(s) nestling in.

I didn't think I had any implantation bleeding (TMI) the low and behold I had to clean out the Crinone (I know I told you TMI) but I could see some old blood. I'm so worried.

I'm also worried about BD'ing. My RE said 2 days after transfer, I'm thinking 2nd trimester he's thinking 2 days. I'm so paranoid.

The cruise should be OK! I can travel until 24 weeks on the cruise, and I'll be like 18, it's actually a good time to get away, done with the risky 1st trimester, M/S is done etc. We'll have to see, I bought insurance so I'm safe either way!

Beth, I know it is worrying, but cramping in early pregnancy is quite common! Does it ease with tylenol &/or heat packs? Does it come and go? Is it getting worse? Is it one sided pain?

I have had A.LOT. of pain with this pregnancy so far, but I had severe OHSS. Having had two ruptured ectopic pregnancies pain FREAKS ME OUT. Most of the time though, there is nothing sinister going on!

Very normal. In fact, all through the next 9 months you will have AF type cramps and symptoms and think AF will be there any second. Its normal!

Beta #2 was 271. Doubling time at this point is 27 hours. I've read that it is normal to start with doubling every day and then slow, but I wasn't expecting MY numbers to do that! I'm so happy to see my body doing what it was meant to do...finally. We set a date for our first ultrasound (12/22/09). Hopefully, we'll hear a heartbeat for Christmas. How cool would that be? I'm not even going to let myself think of the alternative. I'm enjoying being pregnant. I'm even starting to think that we should give some thought to names. I've never allowed myself to even think of what I would name a baby. I have no clue. I'll probably be one of those women who head to the hospital to give birth without a name in mind.

New to the board

Hi i got pregnant on my second IVF, the first one resulted in a miscarriage. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and TTC for 8. I am now 20 weeks pregnant with triplet girls. We are so excited although i have been very sick. I am having better days but still have some bad ones. This was a long journey but so worth it!

Welcome dideann!!! Triplet girls, this is amazing!

Beth thanks! I've been looking around for you, how is everything going?? My U/S is scheduled for 12/23 so a day after you. I decided not to change the appointment. I think the 2 weeks is so long with no b/w and no u/s. Do you feel this or are you geting b/w in between?

Congrats on the triplets! I was in the hospital for most of my 12 weeks bc of HG and I only have twins on board, so I know how you are feeling. BUT you are so right....so worth it!

Niki- YAY!!! WELCOME to the wonderful world of twinkie love!

Beth- I can not wait for your friggin u/s....I kinda stalk you LOL

AFM- still on my mandatory bed rest. It is totally boring, and I want to get up and clean MY way, but my girls need me to lay down all day and night LOL

I was kind of missing for a couple of days because our internet access at home isn't the best and we were stuck at home because we had a blizzard. Can't really complain though because we only get it through our neighbor's router (he said we could!). Our only home computer at this point is my DSS's laptop. We moved back in June and gave our old computer to a friend who really needed it more than we did. I'm jealous that you already had an u/s! We had the 2 betas at 14 and 16dpiui. The first u/s is still 12 days away. I keep telling myself that my betas indicated a healthy pregnancy, but I'm ready to hear a heartbeat. My DH and I spent Tues. night looking at cloth diapering info. we're both trying to enjoy this newly pregnant state. The first trimester is scary though!

Mika...sorry to hear you're still on bed rest. I'd be stalking people, too! Heck, I'm not on bed rest and I still sneak over to the multiples board to see how you're doing!

Beth - I am happy to have the first u/s and it was super exciting to see the twins, but didn't get to see much. So we will be scan buddies. I called my OB and they're having me in on the 22 and have an U/S. I am getting kinda scared because my last time with this U/S tech was the m/c so it's like an obstacle I'll need to get over. That I can be there and not get bad news. This office is so so good though. The rec. and nurse got on the phone when I gave my news, all excited. When I said I hadn't graduated and I wanted to come she was fine with it. At my RE's I can't even get a script for prog. and prenatals that they want me to take. Seriously took a week. Do you know they never gave me a due date. OK, enough of my rant.

Beth I am interested in cloth diapering too. Any info you got? I guess they are services?

I think one of the reasons our RE waits until 6w6d is because there isn't much to see at this point and it might get me worried more than give me reassurance. It's so cool to see your two little sacs though! My appt. is at 2:40 on the 22nd. Our RE is almost 2 hours away though so it'll be a while before I post. We'll probably do some shopping after the appt. since we'll be in "the big city."

As for CDs...we'll be washing at home. No diaper services around here, but I'm sure you have several to choose from in NY. There's a good CD board on pg.org if you scroll down through the main list. They've got some good basic info. as far as different types, washing, etc. My MIL doesn't understand why we're interested in CDs now that disposables are around. My DH tried to explain that there are more options than what she had back in the early 70's. We're thinking of getting some gDiapers with flushable liners for when grandma babysits. I think that would be the easiest for her. I don't know. It'll be a while before we get there. It's just nice to feel like we might get to that point...finally!

AF the cloth diapers - I think I'd use them when I was home or the babies are with grandma being watched kinda thing. If we're out and about I will definitely use disposables or on vacations etc. I'm not carrying dirty diapers around - but I certainly will do my best when I'm home to be environmentally friendly.
