Want to hear a funny story? When I was pg I had a doppler so I could hear the HB whenever I wanted. I always found it in the exact same spot - near my hip. I always told the nurse where to find it but she never tried that spot and I would get annoyed, I knew where my baby was! Well, it was several months later that I realized I had been listening to my own hb the whole time, lol! What a dork!
LOL, Jenn!!! That is so so funny!!
Andi, Gabe is predicting a sister. He has been asking for a baby sister. I don't care either way (would love to have another boy, a girl would be fun, too!).
I'm so happy to be posting here!!! YAY! That's all I wanted to say. :)
Can't wait for your u/s, Christi!!
Congratulations, Christi! I'm so happy you're here!!! :yahoo:
Jenn, that's too funny about the doppler! That sounds like something I would do.
Andi, It won't be long before they tell you the sex. How exciting!
Augusta, Yay for seeing baby and graduating from the RE. That's a huge step!
As for me...
Boring stuff first...the OB appointment. After having so many RE appointments go into so much detail, this one was pretty blah. They gave me instructions to get a bunch of tests done, and changed prenatals because mine didn't have DHA in them. I need to go back in 2 weeks for another checkup, and they'll schedule an u/s and bloodwork around 11 weeks to do genetic testing (I forgot the name of this one)
Now on to more fun stuff...yesterday morning's ultrasound. The babies are doing great! Baby A is measuring 16.4mm (8w0d) and the heartbeat is pounding at 167bpm. It was very cool to see that it's looking more like a human being than just a white dot on the screen. You can already see the head, and the arms, and the umbilical cord was amazing...you could see the blood flow in color going back and forth. Baby B was a little hard to detail, but it was thriving as well. It's measuring 16.8mm (8w1d), and the heartbeat was a good 170bpm.
I am to go back in 2 weeks for only bloodwork to see how the progesterone and estrogen levels are, so I can start weaning. Yay! Let me tell you, I don't mind the crinone (progesterone), but that blue pill (estradiol) down there is not a pretty sight at all. DH is happy about that as well
I think we'll have one more u/s at the RE's office when they're ready to graduate me. It will probably be closer to the 12 weeks.
LOL, Jenn -- I remember being at the m/w while pg with Julia and they'd be searching for her h/b with the doppler, and I'd be like ... there... there! That's it! And they'd say, no, that's YOU, mama. Haha...
Augusta -- I remembered as I was going to sleep last night that Gabe had a girl name picked out for the babe! So sweet... :)
Yayayayayay Christi!!! :yahoo: I'm so excited for your first u/s, too!
Flakimbi, nice that you got to see the little ones growing. The 11w/sequential screening u/s will be nice, that one is a nice long one and you get to see a lot.
I just scheduled the 20w u/s! May 6th -- so a couple days shy of 20w, so I won't have to wait too much longer at all... yay!
You know what the biggest let down of pg was for me? The uneventful appts. LOL Because after all those informative, sometimes exciting RE appts, I came to expect more from my OB. Like they would listen to the hb, ask how I was, ask if I had any questions and then say "see you in a month". I would always leaving feeling like "gosh, that was lame!" I wanted an U/S every time, fun new information, etc. I would start to talk about delivery with my OB and he would say "we'll discuss that in a few months" LOL Gah - talk about learning more patience.
All you pg women are bringing back such fun memories for me!
Gosh it seems like most of you JUST got pregnant, and you're already so far along compared to me! I have one more beta before they'll schedule the u/s. If the beta is bad, the u/s will be scheduled right away, otherwise, my RE likes to wait until about 6.5 weeks so we can see the heartbeats. So, 6.5 weeks will be the week of April 26th! YAY! It can't come soon enough.
When did most of you get full-blown symptoms, particularly morning sickness? I'm not far along, but my symptoms haven't changed much in the last week or so. Still have headaches, achy boobs, flashes of nausea (particularly when I swallow), etc. But nothing that feels any different than when I've had a m/c. I guess I'm looking for some symptom that will tell me that the baby is ok. :)
I haven't really gotten any symptoms. If I eat too much, I feel strange and get a weird taste in my mouth, so I'm constantly brushing my teeth and chewing gum to get rid of it.
The only thing I have is constant hunger. I have to eat every 3 hours. Imagine how much weight I'm gaining
Christi, I felt heartburny around 6-6.5 weeks and TIRED. And I am with Flakimbi, feed me every 3 hours and I am okay. Around 7 weeks, I feel like I have a bad hangover all day....tired, nauseated, heartburny, and sometimes a headache. Enjoy not feeling well for now... you will feel like caca soon enough:)
Jenn, you are right...everything I asked my OB about was "normal", which was annoying but comforting. I wish I could have an u/s at my appt on Monday...today I feel less icky and am now a little worried that something happened between Monday afternoon and today....seriously, I am crazy! Until I feel the baby move every day, I will worry whether I "feel" pregnant or not.
Flakimbi, what a great, reassuring appt!!! Glad both babies are doing so well!!!
