I had my 1st appt with my OB today. It took him awhile to find the heartbeat and hubby and I were getting really worried, but then he found it. Phew! Until baby starts moving around more (think I am feeling flutters here and there) I will worry.

1st Tri screening (u/s and b/w) came back fine, no elevated risk. Next appt is in 3 weeks and they will do the quad screen.

I also had to do the 1-hr gestational diabetes test early because I am "so obese"....I have always had issues with BMI b/c I am large-framed and muscular by nature...I am overweight, but certainly not super-obese...sigh. I did not have GD with gabe and I am certain I do not now. I gained 20# by this point with Gabe and 0 with this pregnancy. Where's my medal?? But yet I feel like weight is all of a sudden a huge issue...I gained 63# with Gabe and no one was concerned (except me, I was embarassed!). I am just a little irritated...especially b/c hubby went to the appt to "narc" on me that I am not eating meat...duh, didn't eat it with gabe unless it was deep-friend (hence, the 20# 1st tri weight gain). Men!

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!!

I'm sorry you are being picked on for your weight. I had a fabulous OB that didn't think weight mattered and would say "God knows how much you need to carry that baby" Um, ok, great. Now I am kicking myself as I still try to lose that weight. I gained 50# with Deacon and #15 with IVF. I think you do deserve a medal for not gaining any weight yet.

But I am glad that your screenings turned out ok.

Thanks, Jenn...I don't think my OB was actually picking on me, I think I am being overly sensitive...I think it is more hubby telling me I am not eating enough, when I am eating what sounds good, trying to be healthy, AND I am not gaining a ton of weight, which I am relieved and proud and happy about. I feel like food is becoming an obsession with him or something (like my last pregnancy) and it shouldn't be...Gabe turned out fine and so will this baby. I think when you can order Maternity jeans from The Gap, and you are tall, you are not super-obese!

    Just call me hormonal

Preaching to the choir - I was sooo sensitive about my weight. If I had someone even say the more innocent thing "that's going to be a big baby! " I would totally feel like a whale and would be so upset.
