I'm a little pre-mature here as I don't have my IVF consult appt. until 5/8 but have been at this TTC thing for a long while now, and am ready to get things underway. I'm hopeful my RE will get us a schedule and on track relatively quickly after the appt. and can maybe plan on ER/ET sometime in late June/early July. Luckily, I've had most of the testing I need.

Anyway, I have a little anxiety, but mostly I am just excited to try something that gives us real odds. My main issue is Stage III endometriosis--that appears to be our only bar to getting pregnant, and from what I have read, IVF does a good job of bypassing my apparently "toxic pelvis" and keeps my eggs in good shape.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm sure I will have lots of questions in the future.

Welcome!!! I see you're from DSM. I live about 2 hours north of there. Was just there this weekend.

Good luck with your consult. You are at a good start to have a diagnosis. Feel free to ask us any questions. Someone here will have an answer for you.

Thanks so much everyone! Yeah, Meg, I have "met" a couple people from Iowa on here. Small world! I know....having the diagnosis helps. I admit I was pretty bummed out when I found out, but in the long run, it's better to know what we're up against.

Welcome and ask away! This board has been a great help to me with the IVF process.

Okay, it's not really funny, but I got a little chuckle over "toxic pelvis". I have one of those too! I am going to visualize my embryos bypassing my toxic pelvis this time around.

Good luck with your consult!

I actually met my best friend on a different IVF forum. She lives near Mpls. You can meet some pretty amazing ladies on the internet. Are you seeing the RE group down there? If so are you seeing Dr. C or Dr. Y?

Yep. Dr. Y. I like him--but, I haven't done anything tooooooo strenuous yet. He earned my respect when he was pretty insistent that he felt I probably had endo and I was like "noooo, I'm sure I don't." I mainly agreed to the lap to rule it out, go figure!

Welcome. I used to live in Des Moines (went to Drake for college). I, too, posted on the board a little bit before my RE appt. Didn't really feel like I belonged on the clomid board (though my RE made us do that - unsuccessfully) nor with those with normal fertility. We never found out if I have endometriosis, because I didn't want to have a surgery just for that - thought I might as well try IVF instead. Hope everything works out great for you. And I agree with you that it is exciting to try something that gives real odds.

The RE I went to for my last IVF cycle in Mpls said there is a chance I could have endo along with my other DOR/POF with the symptoms I was having. He said he could do a lap to check things out and make a diagnosis but we decided against. We asked if it would change the outcome of IVF or make it more successful and he said no so decided not to go through with it.

Welcome! I remember you from earlier BBs when we were both TTC "naturally". I'm glad that you have a diagnosis, so that you know what you are dealing with. I remember feeling relief when I was told I had endo cysts (actually one huge one on the left). A diagnosis of any kind sucks but I felt relief that there's confirmation that something about me was wrong and I should have been pg by now (TTC over 2.5 years at this point). Your post also encouraged me, since your RE has indicated that the endo should not be a barrier to getting pg via IVF. This was something I was sort of wondering, even my fertility dr said the same thing with regards to my chances.

I hope your process is smooth and quick...and short! Good luck! Smile

I remember you too. Yes, I've been around FOREVER it feels like, so I hope you're right (for both of us) though at this point..."short" feels like a relative term!

Good luck on your IVF journey. I had a million questions and no one to ask. Thank goodness for internet buddies.
