Hope things went well yesterday and you are recovering!
Hope you are doing ok. You're kind of making me nervous. We haven't heard from you in a while.
We just want you to know we are thinking of you.
You ladies are so sweet. So I triggered Sunday night. ER on tues morning. 41 eggs retrieved and later that day found out that 37 were mature and survived ICSI. Immediately after ER, I had pain...and it never went away. Luckily I had Vicodin at home from my Laparoscopic surgery. I barely got through the night. Went in and they said my ovaries were quite swollen and that I needed to prep for having OHSS and honestly that it would get worse before it got better. I got severe OHSS. This has been nothing short of hell. I have never felt this horrible in my whole life. I have to go the RE everyday and it is 45 mins away with a very bumpy pass for a mile (and those that have had it can understand how excruciating that is). They gave me Percocet but I could not keep it down because I couldn't eat more than a cracker a day. Throwing up with abdominal pain is crappy. Fri night the pain got so bad and I was having shortness of breath that I went to the ER. I got a breathing treatment and dilaudid. I started crying when it took effect because it was the first time I felt relief and the first time I could take a deep breath. Doc said I had to keep up on pain meds when I got home and use Zofran (anti-nausea) with every dose. Sat morning I went to the RE and they drained a half liter of fluid off. They couldn't get more because it was so high and I started having bleeding issues. It was so uncomfortable. Obviously, this cycle has been canceled. I could not even imagine getting pregnant like this. Yesterday would have been my day 5 transfer. 4 blasts went to freeze. There are a number still left that they are seeing if day 6 makes them grow and see if any additional go to freeze. I always wished and prayed for 4. So I am happy.
As for the next FET... I don't know. We are going to Maui Feb 2-8th. I need a little break. For those of you with experience with severe OHSS...when did you feel better? My trigger was a week ago yesterday. My doc says I'm through the worst. I am still so bloated. It will get super uncomfortable and then go away in a hour. It comes in waves. I'm supposed to work Thursday night. I just want to get better. I'm sick of feeling like this.
Thanks for thinking of me!
I was worried about you developing OHSS when I heard how many follies you had. I can't believe you had that many eggs retrieved. Sorry you had to go through all this but it will all be worth it. I'm glad you are finally starting to feel some relief. I was wondering if they'd have to drain fluid off of you. I knew someone that ended up needing to have a shunt put in to drain fluid. Sounds like things are slowly improving for you. I'm happy that they canceled the cycle because had they gone ahead and transferred and you would've gotten pregnant, the OHSS would've gotten worse since it gets worse with a rise in HCG. I'm pretty sure I had a very mild case of it and I finally felt better about a week later, but I wasn't even near as bad as you. Enjoy your trip! Did you have it planned before this or did this push you to go?
Kate - I am glad you are recovering. I have no personal experience with severe OHSS except to know it can kill people, albeit rarely. I am also glad you get to go to Maui and take a little break. I think both Meg and I figured that this is what happened. I am also so happy that you have some embryos to freeze.. hopefully you will never have to do an egg retrieval again.
Kate - that sounds horrible. Glad you are getting some relief now. I can't believe how much fluid they drained! I hope you continue to heal and have fun in Maui. Hugs.
Thank you for the support ladies. Feeling better day by day. Leaving for Maui Feb 2nd. Can't come soon enough! :bigarmhug:
Glad you are getting better. Have a great trip!!!
