Lupron/gonal f/menopur

hey ladies,
Can someone explain to me why I will continue half dosage of lupron when I start gonal f and menopur? I thought the lupron was used to put my ovaries to "sleep", why would I want to continue that if the other 2 drugs are to stimulate?

As always thanks!!

I think the reason for staying on the lupron is so you don't ovulate on your own. Don't quote me, but I'm think that's the reasoning. It seems wierd to be taking something that does the opposite of want you want to do.

If you stop the lupron your brain can act on the high estrogen levels from multiple follicles and you could ovulate on your own and too early because the estrogen is much higher than it would normally be at that point in a cycle. Lupron stops that happening- it keeps your levels of a hormone called LH very very low so you can't have a surge and ovulate. Smile
