    Default Med question

Hey ladies! I have a question about how your injections went...

I'm on 450mg or units (LOL) of Follistim a night.
Now I will be taking Ganarelix and Low Dose LH...so it will be 3 shots in the morning.

Anybody do this combo? Dh was reading that many clinics will do low dose HcG instead of LH. My question is did you do 3 in one shot like this? Gosh this just seems like so much.

Anyway, retrieval can be as early as Wednesday, but she's shooting for Friday! I'm so nervous!!! She said that right now I only had 4-5 good follicles responding to the meds. They typically like to see 8 or 9, but that I shouldn't worry that it was still early. Of course I'm worried because I would like to have more. I hope on Monday there are more to work with. I have it lingering in the back of my mind and its killing me!! UGH stress!

I never did low dose HCG. I can't really remember exactly what my injections were since it was 2 and 3 years ago that I went through my cycles. During one cycle at one point I was taking 3 shots in the evening and 2 in the morning. A lot can change over a few days so hopefully you'll see some more follies on Monday!

I did not do your protocol. I had about the same number of follicles as you at the first ultrasound and then next one had a few more - I think we got 7 eggs total. It was very frustrating and scary, especially considering that I am relatively young and expected a good response to the medications. We did ICSI with the eggs we got as we were dealing with male factor. I had to do injections for almost 4 weeks for my IVF cycle. It's a lot to go through and a very stressful process. Will watch for your update on Monday and hope some follies catch up..

I did like how my IVF clinic allowed us to combine all the meds into a single injection. That helped.

ouch! one of the news ones actually did hurt. I had this feeling it would. It is not one of those softer needles that just slides in. I actually had to push this one in. Now that area on my stomach is all red. I have a lot of CM today, I hope that's not a bad thing. Let's see what the US shows tomorrow.

Tiffany-I'm assuming they will be doing ICSI as well since it's a male factor here as well. (both ends actually) I still don't know how we managed to conceive my daughter!!!

Nothing too reassuring. I have 6 follies, one isn't growing too well so basically 5. She's not all that happy but she said that with my age (31) we should still be okay. As of today we are having the retrieval as planned on Friday. 3 follies are 15mm big and 2 others are a bit smaller. I'm a bit bloated already. Especially if I eat too much, so I've been eating in small portions. If I'm full I get sooo uncomfortable.

My vitamin D results came back and she said they were pretty low, first test showed insufficient. So I have to supplement with 1600mg each day. On Wednesday I go back and I have to bring my HcG shot with me. All i can do is pray right now that at least 1 or 2 eggs is good...not working with many.

I'm sorry that the results aren't what you had hoped for or expected. It's all just an educated guess as this point so maybe/hopefully once they start doing the ER itself, more eggies will "pop up". Just remember too that it's definitely quality over quantity. PREG MENT - our first cycle we got almost twice as many eggs as our second. They seemed to be better quality this go round as I was able to get pregnant. Good luck with everything.

I know I'm late responding here, but I used all those same drugs. I did an antagonist protocol. But, I did the FSH/LH combo from the beginning of stims, then started Ganirelix about halfway through. I did them all at night. The Ganirelix did hurt more than the other injection and it usually left a red bump. I triggered with HCG.

I saw you are doing ER on Friday.....good luck! I've heard of people who get more eggs at retrieval than they could see on the US ahead of time....hope you are one of them! If not, five sounds like a decent number to work with.

I don't really know your protocol or meds, but I wanted to share my experience.

My 1st U/S after 5 days of stimming (I think) showed only 3 follies and the dr said that there was a high chance there would be no eggs for retrieval. 2nd U/S after 2-3 more days showed 4 follies, dr at that U/S told me it was not ideal for a 40 year old woman. My dr was at the next U/S and saw one more follie on the left ovary (the others were all on my right) and said that there was a 5th one but it might be hard to get, so still working with four. Day of ER, they retrieved 8 eggs, and 6 of those eggs were mature.

So please still be hopeful. Sometimes ovaries take a while and then the smaller follies catch up. Plus sometimes your own ovaries may surprise you at ER. I'm praying for good results and more follies and more eggs for you.

Good luck with your ER on Friday! I hope there are some eggies hiding in there. I've never heard of Vitamin D being tested during IVF. Are they thinking there is a link between that and pregnancy?
