My 1st consult is tomorrow!

My RE's office called to let me know that my appointment got moved up to tomorrow morning! I was on the cancellation list but I wasn't holding my breath for an earlier appointment since I didn't want to get my hopes up. Anyway, I am so relieved and nervous as well. Please send some positive vibes my way that the appointment will go smoothly and that there will be no unpleasant surprises. Smile

Now off to write down a bazillion questions in my new notebook that I bought for this occasion. I feel a little unprepared...I thought I would have 2 weeks to prepare for this.

Good luck tomorrow! Sometimes it's better to be caught off guard with things. You have less time to stress and get nervous. Hope all goes well.

Thank you ladies for the good luck because it worked! I left the appointment with a renewed sense of hope. Even though I know I have a very high chance of m/c again, I'm feeling optimistic for now.

I took everyone's advice and wrote down all the questions I had so the appointment went really well. I just can't believe it's happening so fast. I am on CD 7 now and RE has put me on BC pills to induce my period. AF should be here in 13 days or so and we're good to go (hopefully!). So, pretty much the schedule is -

BC pills - 2-3 weeks
Lupron - 7-10 days
gonal-F - 9-15 days
Ovidrel
Egg retrieval
PGD
Embryo transfer!!

Does this sound about right? I'm very nervous....RE mentioned IVF orientation but I forgot to get more info on it. Do you think this is something I need to do?

I'm probably leaving out bunch of details but I'm having a hard time concentrating.....

Thanks again for the support....I have a feeling this is going to be a wild ride....

Great! Glad it went so well. I can't believe how fast they are getting you started. That is so awesome. Maybe there's a reason why you got that appt today. If you hadn't gotten it you would've had to wait another cycle I'm sure. Your timeline looks right. Are they going to start you on Lovenox shots to help prevent m/c? In some clinics the IVF/injection classes are mandatory. I'm sure it's for some insurance reason. DH and I had to take them and I'm a nurse and he's a physician. It was a waste of time. Good luck. The next few weeks will probably drag but once you get started it will fly by.

Meg, I talked to my RE about Lovenox and she's going to talk to my Hematologist about it first but she doesn't see any reason why I couldn't be on it. So, most likely (I'd strongly like to) it looks like I'm going to be on Lovenox.

I'm going to call and find out more info about orientation. Oh wow, I can't believe they had you take classes even though you're a nurse and your DH is a physician! Well, I should probably go ahead and go to the orientation if they're going to teach us how to use the meds.

Thank you again! Biggrin

So glad that it went well. And that's an incredibly fast timeline. Congrats! Such an exciting (and scary) time.

I am so glad the appointment went so well Smile I definitely recommend the IVF orientation. I would be lost if I didn't do it. Good luck and KUP Biggrin

I asked a bazillion questions, too. Smile I think it's expected by the docs. Good luck. By the way, did you post that you have a thyroid level of 5? I think that was you... well, at the IF clinic I go to, they recommend it be between 2 - .5. Ask your RE about going on synthroid/levothyroxin to get your thyroid number a bit lower. Mine was 7, now with meds it hovers around 1.5 - 1. About 8 months after my thyroid was lowered to a more normal level, I got PG. It was a trisomy 18 angel, unfortunately. Just something to think about and maybe discuss with your RE.

Thank you so much ladies!

Kadi, yes, it was me. I thought my level was on the high end of normal but they didn't seem too concerned. I am definitely going to ask my doctor about it again. Thank you so much for bringing it up. I'm sure my RE and my nurse thinks I'm annoying with all of these questions but heck....IVF is such a huge deal that I want to make sure all my ducks are in a row before I proceed. Thanks again!
